Epidermodysplasia verruciformis associated human papillomaviruses present a subgenus-specific organization of the regulatory genome region.

ABSTRACT: The regulatory regions of the human papillomaviruses (HPVs) 9, 17, 20, and 36 were mapped, sequenced, and aligned. They revealed an arrangement of putative protein binding sites specific for the epidermodysplasia verruciformis associated HPVs. Three subgroups could be differentiated.
