ABSTRACT: In the ethyl-enedi-ammonium dication of the title salt, C2H10N2 (2+)·Cl(-)·SCN(-), the N-C-C-N torsion angle is 72.09?(12)°. In the crystal, an extensive three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network, formed by N-H?Cl and N-H?N hydrogen bonds, holds all the ions together.

Project description:The reaction cavities of the nitro groups in the crystals of the title compounds, trans-[Co(NO2)(NCS)(C2H8N2)2]·X, X = SCN- (I), Cl-·H2O (II), and (ClO4 -)0.75(SCN-)0.25 (III), have been investigated, revealing that the geometry of the inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds in (I) is unsuitable for nitro-nitrito photo-isomerization. The common main building block of these crystal structures is a centrosymmetric pair of complex cations connected by pairwise N-H?O(nitro) hydrogen bonds forming an R 2 2(4) ring, which is a narrow diamond shape in (I) but is approximately square in (II) and (III). The structure of (I) was reported earlier [Börtin (1976 ?). Acta Chem. Scand. A, 30, 503-506] but is described here with an improved disorder model for the thio-cyanate anions and to higher precision.

Dicyclo-hexyl-ammonium thio-cyanate: monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title salt, C(12)H(24)N(+)·NCS(-), represents a monoclinic polymorph of the previously reported ortho-rhom-bic form [Khawar Rauf et al. (2008 ?). Acta Cryst. E64, o366]. Two independent formula units comprise the asymmetric unit with the major difference in their mol-ecular structures relating to the relative dispositions of the cyclo-hexyl rings [dihedral angles = 79.88?(6) and 67.72?(5)°]. Further, the independent anions form distinctive patterns of hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, i.e. 2 × N-H?N versus N-H?N and N-H?S. The resulting supra-molecular architecture is a supra-molecular chain along the c axis based on a square-wave topology.

Project description:In the title salt, C6H11NH3 (+)·SCN(-), the cyclo-hexyl-ammonium ring adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation. The ammonium group occupies an equatorial position to minimize 1,3 and 1,5 diaxial inter-actions. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

The [Pr(SO4)5(H2O)] groups are arranged in sheets parallel to (010). Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(8)H(20)N(+)·Cl(-), is compared with a polymorph that was described earlier in the same space group. Differences in the conformations of the ethyl groups of the cation exist between the polymorphs. This study is given here in order to provide additional unit-cell data for use in qualitative identification of crystalline samples obtained in syntheses in which Et(4)N(+)·Cl(-) is either used or generated.
