Crystal structure of 4-azido-methyl-6-tert-butyl-2H-chromen-2-one.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C14H15N3O2, one of the methyl C atoms of the tert-butyl group lies almost in the plane of the chromene ring system [deviation = -0.097?(2)?Å], one lies above and one lies below [deviations = 1.460?(3) and 1.006?(3)?Å, respectively]. The C-C-N-N torsion angle is 142.33?(17)°. In the crystal, moelcules are linked by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds to generate C(6) chains propagating in the [010] direction.

In the crystal, N-H?O and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds are present, which together with ?-? coumarin-ring inter-actions [ring centroid separations = 3.4582?(8) and 3.6421?(9)?Å], give rise to a layered structure lying parallel to (001).

Project description:The title compound, C(25)H(29)NO(3), is a Schiff base derivative of coumarin 120. There are two structurally similar but crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. Both mol-ecules exist in E configurations with respect to the C=N double bonds. The dihedral angles between the coumarin and 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hy-droxy-benzyl-idene ring planes are 4.62?(7) and 14.62?(7)° for the two mol-ecules. Intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonding involving the O-H groups and the azomethine N atoms generate S(6) rings. In the crystal structure, independent mol-ecules are linked by C-H?? inter-actions, with groups of four mol-ecules stacked along the c axis.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C13H14O3, contains two independent mol-ecules, A and B, that are inter-connected through an offset π-π inter-action [inter-centroid separation = 3.6087 (4) Å]. The fused benzene and pyran-2-one rings in each mol-ecule are essentially coplanar, having dihedral angles of 1.22 (12) and 1.57 (12)° for mol-ecules A and B, respectively. Similarly, the coumarin ring system and the 7-prop-oxy substituent are close to being coplanar [C-C-O-C torsion angles = 2.9 (2) and 1.4 (2)° for mol-ecules A and B, respectively]. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are connected by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming supra-molecular tapes along [100] that are linked into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯π inter-actions, as well as by the aforementioned π-π inter-actions.

Project description:Yellow-green fluorescent crystals of the title compound, C19H18O3, were obtained by the reaction of hy-droxy-aceto-phenone and 4-tert-butyl-benzaldehyde with hydrogen peroxide as oxidant. The plane of the benzene ring is slightly twisted to the mean plane of the 4H-chromene-4-one moiety (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0191 Å) by 10.53 (8)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with an R 2 (2)(10) ring motif. The dimers are linked via C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming sheets parallel to (10-1).

Project description:In the title compound, C20H18O4, the benzoate ring is oriented at an acute angle of 33.10 (12)° with respect to the planar (r.m.s deviation = 0.016 Å) coumarin ring system. An intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond closes an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal, C-H⋯O contacts generate infinite C(6) chains along the b-axis direction. Also present are π-π stacking inter-actions between neighbouring pyrone and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7034 (18) Å] and C=O⋯π inter-actions [O⋯centroid = 3.760 (3) Å]. The data obtained from quantum chemical calculations performed on the title compound are in good agreement with the observed structure, although the calculated C-O-C-C torsion angle between the coumarin ring system and the benzoate ring (129.1°) is somewhat lower than the observed value [141.3 (3)°]. Hirshfeld surface analysis has been used to confirm and qu-antify the supra-molecular inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(23)H(25)NO(4), was synthesized by the reaction of 2-(4-nitro-phen-yl)acetonitrile and 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-benzaldehyde. The dihedral angle formed by the benzene ring and the mean plane through the benzopyran-one ring system is 35.57?(5)°. The nitro group is almost coplanar with the attached benzene ring [dihedral angle = 5.19?(15)°]. The crystal packing is stabilized by an inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-action.
