Fusarium head blight (FHB) is one of the most damaging diseases of wheat. FHB is caused by a species complex that includes two genera of Ascomycetes: Microdochium and Fusarium. Fusarium graminearum, Fusarium culmorum, Fusarium poae, and Microdochium nivale are among the most common FHB species in Europe and were chosen for these experiments.
