Nucleic acid detection using BRET-beacons based on bioluminescent protein-DNA hybrids.

ABSTRACT: Bioluminescent molecular beacons have been developed using a modular design approach that relies on BRET between the bright luciferase NanoLuc and a Cy3 acceptor. While classical molecular beacons are hampered by background fluorescence and scattering, these BRET-beacons allow detection of low pM concentrations of nucleic acids directly in complex media.
