Crystal structure of tetra-hydro-seselin, an angular pyran-ocoumarin.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, tetra-hydro-seselin, C14H16O3, a pyran-ocoumarin [systematic name: 8,8-dimethyl-3,4,9,10-tetra-hydro-2H,8H-pyrano[2,3-f]chromen-2-one] obtained from the hydrogenation of seselin in the presence of Pd/C in MeOH at room temperature, the dihedral angle between the central benzene ring and the best planes of the outer fused ring systems are 6.20?(7) and 10.02?(8)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules show only very weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The pyran-opyran amide (2S,4aR,8aR)-6-oxo-2,4a,6,8a-tetra-hydro-pyrano[3,2-b]pyran-2-carboxamide, C9H9NO4, 3, was prepared by a chemoselective hydration of the corresponding nitrile, 2, using a heterogeneous catalytic method based on copper(II) supported on mol-ecular sieves, in the presence of acetaldoxime. Compound 3 belongs to a new class of pyran-opyrans that possess anti-bacterial and phytotoxic activity. Crystallographic analysis of 3 shows a bent structure for the cis-fused bicyclic pyran-opyran, similar to nitrile 2. Evidence of an intra-molecular hydrogen bond involving the amide group and ring oxygen was not observed; however, two separate inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions were observed between the amide hydrogen atoms and adjacent carbonyl oxygen atoms along the b- and a-axis directions. The latter inter-action may also be supported by an inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond. The lattice is filled out by close-packed layers of this hydrogen-bonded network along the c-axis direction, related from one to the next by a 21 screw axis.

Project description:The title compound, C14H13BrO3 [systematic name: rac-(9S,10R)-9-bromo-10-hy-droxy-8,8-dimethyl-9,10-di-hydro-2H,8H-pyrano[2,3-f]chromen-2-one], is a substituted pyran-ocoumarin, obtained by bromination of seselin [8,8-dimethyl-2H,8H-pyrano[2,3-f]chromen-2-one], which was isolated from the Indian herb Trachyspermum stictocarpum (Aajmod). The pyrano ring has a distorted half-chair conformation and its mean plane is inclined to the coumarin mean plane by 1.6 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with an R22(16) ring motif. The dimers stack along the a-axis direction and are linked by offset π-π inter-actions, forming columns [inter-centroid distance = 3.514 (4) Å].

Project description:The title compound, [Na(μ-C6F5BH3)(C4H8O)2]2, represents a dimeric structure of sodium and organoborohydride, located about a centre of inversion. The Na⋯B distances of 2.7845 (19) and 2.7494 (18) Å were apparently longer than the Li⋯B distances (2.403-2.537 Å) of the lithium organotri-hydro-borates in the previous reports. Moreover, an inter-action between the sodium atom and one fluorine atom on the 2-position of the benzene ring is observed [Na-F = 2.6373 (12) Å]. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules are stacked along the b-axis via a π-π inter-action between the benzene rings.

Project description:The title compound, epalrestat {systematic name: (5Z)-5-[(2E)-2-methyl-3-phenyl-prop-2-en-1-yl-idene]-4-oxo-2-sulfanyl-idene-1,3-thia-zolidine-3-acetic acid}, crystallized as a tetra-hydro-furan monosolvate, C15H13NO3S2·C4H8O. Epalrestat, an important drug for diabetic neuropathy, has been reported to exist in polymphic, solvated and co-crystal forms. In the mol-ecule reported here, the phenyl ring is inclined to the rhodamine ring by 22.31?(9)°, and the acetic acid group is almost normal to the rhodamine ring, making a dihedral angle of 88.66?(11)°. In the crystal, pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed between the carb-oxy-lic acid groups of epalerstat mol-ecules, forming inversion dimers with an R22(8) loop. The dimers are linked by pairs of C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [101]. The solvate mol-ecules are linked to the chain by a C-H?O(tetra-hydro-furan) hydrogen bond. A combination of thermal analysis and powder X-ray diffraction revealed that title compound desolvated into epalerstat Form II. One C atom of the tetra-hydro-furan solvate mol-ecule is positionally disordered and has a refined occupancy ratio of 0.527?(18):0.473?(18).
