ATOH1 is a master transcription factor for the secretory lineage differentiation of intestinal epithelial cells (IECs). However, the comprehensive contribution of ATOH1<sup>+</sup> secretory lineage IECs to the homeostasis, repair, and tumorigenesis of the intestinal epithelium remains uncertain.
