S1417CD Financial Impact Assessment Tool in Patients With Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

ABSTRACT: This clinical trial studies the use of the financial impact assessment tool in patients with colorectal cancer that has spread from the primary site to other places in the body. Gathering information about patients with colorectal cancer over time may help doctors better understand the financial impact of cancer and help patients avoid financial problems during treatment.

RawBeans: a simple, vendor independent, raw-data quality control tool

Project description:Every laboratory performing mass spectrometry based proteomics strives to generate high quality data. Among the many factors that influence the outcome of any experiment in proteomics is performance of the LC-MS system, which should be monitored continuously. This process is termed quality control (QC). We present an easy to use, rapid tool, which produces a visual, HTML based report that includes the key parameters needed to monitor LC-MS system perfromance. The tool, named RawBeans, can generate a report for individual files, or for a set of samples from a whole experiment. We anticipate it will help proteomics users and experts evaluate raw data quality, independent of data processing. The tool is available here: https://bitbucket.org/incpm/prot-qc/downloads.

Project description:Little is known about the impact of risk assessment tools on decision-making by patients and clinicians. In particular, even though the NCI Colorectal Cancer Risk Assessment Tool is one of the most prominent risk assessment tools available, no study has quantified its usability or impact on decision-making or uptake of screening. In this study, we will measure patients’ satisfaction with the NCI CRC RAT, their perception of its usability and helpfulness, and its impact on their decision-making and behavior. In addition, we will assess the impact of adding information about their chance of having an advanced adenoma.

Whole transcriptome analysis of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus Aca13 induced by n-hexadecane or naphthalene

Project description:Petroleum hydrocarbons are recalcitrant contaminants, which has caused most serious environmental problems. Acinetobacter calcoaceticus Aca13 was isolated from petroleum polluted soil for petroleum biodegradation. Hexadecane and naphthalene were used to incubate with Acinetobacter calcoaceticus Aca13. After incubation, the whole transcriptome was obtained from treated groups and control groups, and then used for RNA sequence and analysis. Obtained data in this project will help us understand the biodegradation mechanism of hexadecane and naphthalene, and will be helpful for the bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbons.
