Chinese medicine in postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy (Capecitabine therapy) for colorectal cancer: Examination of prevention of hand-foot syndrome by the prophylactic administration of Eppikajutsutou (clinical phase II study)

ABSTRACT: Interventions: Capecitabine + Eppikajutsutou group One course of Capecitabine: Daily oral administration of Capecitabine (Xeloda) dose according to the body surface area twice a day for 14 days within 30 minutes after the breakfast and the supper, and a rest for seven days afterwards. Total 8 courses are performed. Eppikajutsutou: Daily oral administration during Capecitabine therapy Its dose is 7.5g divided in three times/day, before a meal or inter cibos. Capecitabine + Vitamin B6 group One course of Capecitabine: It is the same as intervention 1. Vitamin B6: Daily oral administration during Capecitabine therapy Its dose is 60mg divided in three times/day, after a meal. Primary outcome(s): Incidence rate of hand-foot syndrome of Grade2 or more Study Design: Parallel Randomized

Project description:Transcriptome analysis to determine the impact of oral exposure (in a sugar meal) to the liquid supernatant (i.e. LB culture media) of Chromobacterium sp. Panama biofilm culture. The biofilm supernatant (i.e. media) was first filtered with a 0.2uM filter to remove all live bacterial cells. It was then mixed with 10% sucrose, and a control sucrose meal was mixed with filtered LB. Mosquitoes were exposed to each sugar meal for 24 hours and then midguts were dissected from 20 adult females per treatment. The entire experiment was performed 4 independent times.

Project description:Interventions: A group(three taimes-daily) UFT was administered at a dose of 300 mg/m2/day, and LV was administered at a dose of 75 mg/day. The daily doses of both UFT and LV were divided into three doses administered 8 hours apart and taken together along with water. Repeat five 35-day cycles consisting of 28- day of oral chemotherapy administration and then a 7-day rest period. B group(twice-daily) UFT was administered at a dose of 300 mg/m2/d, and LV was administered at a dose of 50 mg/day. Early response of gene expression in the distal intestine of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) during the development of soybean meal induced enteritis

Project description:In the present study a 44k oligonucleotide salmonid microarray, qPCR and histology were used to investigate transcriptomic responses in the distal intestine during the first week of oral exposure to soybean meal in order to gain insight into early molecular response mechanisms. Intestinal tissue samples were taken on day one, two, three, five and seven after introduction of a soybean-containing diet and compared to a control group fed fishmeal. Day 1, day 2, day 3, day 5 and day 7 (n=10 per condition) post-soybean meal feeding Atlantic salmon hybridized to common reference and compared against control (day 0 of SBM feeding).
