Project description:This study will take progression-free survival and overall survival as the main evaluation indexes, to evaluate the Efficacy of Jianpi Huatan Decoction in the Treatment of Advanced Colorectal Cancer. Decision Trees and Discriminant Analysis will be used to analyze the characteristics of dominant population combined with clinical data of patients. DNA methylation of the subjects will be detected to study the methylation characteristics of the preponderant population of Jianpi Huatan Decoction.

Identification of genes responsive to paeoniflorin, a heat shock protein-inducing compound, in human leukemia U937 cells

Project description:Paeoniflorin (PF) isolated from paeony root (Paeoniae radix) has been used as an herbal medicine in East Asis for its anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, and immunoregulatory effects. PF is known to be a chemical heat shock protein (HSP) inducer. The effects on the gene expression in human lymphoma U937 cells treated with PF were investigated using by an Affymetrix GeneChip system. PF treatment induced Hsp70 expression in U937 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner as shown in Western blot analysis. When the cells were treated with PF (160 μg/ml; 30 min), 41 up-regulated and 23 down-regulated genes were identified. Keywords: paeoniflorin, gene expression, Human lymphoma U937 cell

Proteome profiles of primary pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas undergoing adjuvant chemoradiation link ALDH1A1 to early local recurrence and chemoradiation resistance

Project description:Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a poor prognosis with very frequent post-surgical local recurrence. The combination of adjuvant chemotherapy with radiotherapy is under consideration to achieve a prolonged disease-free survival (DFS). To date, few studies have determined protein profiles that are associated with responsiveness to adjuvant chemoradiation. Here, we analyzed the proteomes of primary, surgically resected PDAC tumors subjected to adjuvant chemoradiation and achieving short DFS (median DFS of 6 months, n = 6) or a prolonged DFS (median DFS of 28 months, n = 6) using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.
