ABSTRACT: This study identifies evolutionarily conserved gene signatures and signaling pathways in a stage-specific manner that successfully distinguishes diabetes and non-diabetes-associated atherosclerosis. These findings establish new molecular insights and therapeutic opportunities to potentially control accelerated atherosclerotic lesion formation in diabetes.
