RNA sequencing of Harpegnathos saltator workers's non-visual brains, ovaries, and fat bodies injected with juvenile hormone (JH) or ecdysone (Ec).
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: In ant Harpegnathos saltator, workers can become the reproductive gamergates in a queenless condition. During the worker-to-gamergate transition, juvenile hormone signaling decreases but ovarian ecdysone production increases in the gamergate. Injecting juvenile hormone analog (JHA or methoprene) induces expression of worker-biased genes in the brain , while ecydsone promotes expression of ecdysone-responsive genes in ovaries.
