Project description:In this study we performed gene expression profiling of 14 cases of grade II gliomas. The results of these analysis were used in unsupervised analyses to compare correlations between the histological subtype of grade II gliomas and gene expression profiles Total RNA was isolated from 14 tumor tissue of patients, which included 5 astrocytomas WHO grade II (T2), 5 oligodendro-gliomas WHO grade II (T2) and 4 ependymomas WHO grade II (T2) samples, in additional to 4 normal tissues. The genome-wide expression analysis was first performed by directly comparing the expression profile of highly enriched different kinds of grade II gliomas and normal tissues, we then applied various data-mining methods to process the 14 different types of grade II gliomas tissues sample.

Expression data from cerebral tumors of WHO grade II and III

Project description:Molecular profiling of cerebral gliomas distinguishes biologically distinct tumor groups and provides prognostically relevant information beyond histological classification and IDH1/2 mutation status. We performed microarray-based genome- and transcriptome-wide molecular profiling of primary tumor samples from 137 patients with cerebral gliomas, 61 WHO grade II and 76 WHO grade III tumors. For this study, we screened prospectively recruited patients with a histopathological reference diagnosis of cerebral tumors of WHO grade II and III, known KPS at diagnosis, information on extent of resection by early postoperative neuroimaging, available frozen tissue specimens from the initial operation, and documented clinical outcome.

DNA methylation profiling for molecular classification of adult diffuse lower‑grade gliomas

Project description:DNA methylation profiling has become a powerful tool for neuro-oncology diagnostics. We investigated the value of using DNA methylation profiling to achieve molecular diagnosis in adult primary diffuse lower-grade gliomas according to WHO 2016 classification system of central nervous system tumors. We further evaluated the use of methylation profiling for improved molecular characterization of the tumors and identify prognostic differences beyond histological grade and molecular markers (IDH mutation and 1p/19q codeletion status).
