ABSTRACT: We demonstrate in mice that perinatal SERT expression in glutamatergic pyramidal neurons in the hippocampus and mPFC modulates sexually dimorphic gene expression during hippocampal circuit assembly and is a source for sex-biased susceptibilities to cognitive and behavioral impairments.
