Effect of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) signaling in dendritic cells in modulating autoimmune disease phenotype in animal model of Multiple Sclerosis
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: ERα has been shown to have a protective effect. We found that ERα deficiency in dendritic cells (DCs) of mice induced a phenotype “switch” in EAE, defined by severe neurodegeneration and resistance to interferon beta. Diminished ERα signaling in DCs generate neurotoxic effector CD4+ T cells.
