ABSTRACT: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a major cell type in the stroma of solid tumors and can exert both tumor-promoting and tumor-restraining functions. This functional heterogeneity is correlated with the existence of transcriptionally distinct subpopulations of CAFs.
