Expression data from carotid body glomus cells and neuroblasts, from young adult rats (9-11 weeks of age)
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The carotid body is a peripheral chemoreceptor organ containing a neurogenic niche with stem cells and immature neuronal cells that convert into new neurons (glomus cells) upon activation by hypoxia. We have used microarray to compare the gene expression programs of glomus cells and neuroblasts, both in normoxic and hypoxic (3 days) conditions, to highlight the molecular mechanisms underlying fast neurogenesis
