Characterizing rhesus fetal gonadal development
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Given the challenges involved in acquiring human fetal tissue for research, non-human primates fill a critical knowledge gap in understanding early developmental progression. Using the 10x Genomics Chromium platform, we performed single cell RNA-seq on rhesus macaque prenatal gonads at critical stages in embryonic and fetal life. These experiments represent a rare opportunity to analyze primate germline and gonadal somatic cell biology during a developmental window that is almost inaccessible with human tissues.
