Project description:Affymetrix HuGene ST 1.0 microarrays were used to study and compare gene expression in peripheral blood CD8+ T cells of human patients with Acute Infectious Mononucleosis (AIM; acute EBV infection) and during convalescence (CONV; 6-12 months after AIM visit). Blood samples were drawn from ten human patients with AIM and again during their covalescence (CONV). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were isolated and cryopreserved. Paired AIM and CONV samples were thawed and CD8+ T cells purified with magnetic beads. RNA was isolated and processed for hybridization according to the Affymetrix protocol

Real time quantitative PCR analysis of serum circulating miRNAs from patients with head and neck tumors. [exp2]

Project description:The samples were drawn from patients with diagnosed oropharyngeal cancer. We used blood samples (10ml) collected from patients after diagnosis, before treatment. Blood was centrifuged for 10 min, after which serum was aspirated, aliquoted in RNAse-free tubes, stored at −80°C until required for further processing and did not undergo more than two freeze-thaw cycles. MicroRNA was extracted from 200 μL serum using miRCURY RNA Isolation kit (Qiagen) following the manufacturer’s protocol and stored at −80°C.

Expression data from kidney and liver of an adult human male

Project description:mRNA expression differences between the liver and kidney of an adult male (homo sapien) were investigated using three technical replicates. The purpose of the experiment was to compare array data generated using Affymetrix with measures of expression obtained using RNAseq (a sequencing approach for measuring expression that utilizes Solexa technology). Keywords: kidney, liver RNA samples from the liver and kidney were extracted within 6 hours post mortem. Aliquots of mRNA were extracted and hybridized to three Affymetrix U133 Plus 2.0 arrays (three technical replicates). The purpose of the study was to compare the Affymetrix array data with expression results obtained from RNAseq (Solexa). This dataset is part of the TransQST collection.
