Project description:Fermentative microbial communities can be utilized for the conversion of various agroindustrial residues into valuable chemicals. Here, we report 34 metagenomes from anaerobic bioreactors fed lactose-rich ultrafiltered milk permeate and 278 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs). These MAGs can inform future studies aimed at generating renewable chemicals from dairy and other agroindustrial residues.
Project description:The de novo metagenome assembly for C1-TPA is 68,577,389?bp long spread over 10,108 contigs, while that of C3-TPA is 55,517,929?bp distributed over 9,415 contigs. A total of 8 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) were extracted from C1-TPA, and 10 were extracted from C3-TPA. Both samples have a Flavobacterium sp. and a Pseudomonas sp. in common among their bacterial communities.
Project description:We present a comprehensive data set that describes an anaerobic microbial consortium native to polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB)-contaminated sediments. Obtained from sediment microcosms incubated for 200 days, the data set includes 4 metagenomes, 4 metatranscriptomes (in duplicate), and 62 metagenome-assembled genomes and captures microbial community interactions, structure, and function relevant to anaerobic PCB biodegradation.
Project description:Microbes play a dominant role in the biogeochemistry of coastal waters, which receive organic matter from diverse sources. We present metagenomes and 45 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from Sapelo Island, Georgia, to further understand coastal microbial populations. Notably, four MAGs are archaea, with two Thaumarchaeota and two marine group II Euryarchaeota.
