Project description:Investigating genetic diversity of Ethiopian indigenous chickens
Project description:The expression of genes were analysed in 7th day of embryonic stage between Aseel, an indigenous slow-growing chicken, and control broiler, a fast-growing broiler chicken line. The whole embryo was collected in TRIZOL and total RNA was isolated. The expression profile of gene was determined in 64k Agilent chicken microarray chip. The Cy3 dye was used for detection. The fold change of expression was analysed in Aseel as compared to broiler chicken line.
Project description:Affymetrix GeneChip miRNA Array was used to globally identify different expression miRNAs in hypothalamus, liver, breast muscle and abdominal fat between commercial broilers and indigenous chickens at seven-week old with hypertrophic pectoral muscle or normal pectoral muscle.
Project description:To understand the molecular basis of distinct pork quality in Chinese indigenous and Western breed, longissimus dorsi samples were collected from three adult Northeastern Indigenous and from three adult Large White. Total RNA was extracted and subjected to porcine Affymetrix Genechip. The study helps to elucidate the genetic mechnism of divergent pork quality and provide the theory basis for selection and genetic improvement of meat quality traits in porcine. Six longissimus dorsi samples were collected from three Northeastern Indigenous and from three Large White. Three Large White were control samples. Total RNA was extracted from each sample.Gene-expression profiling was performed for each RNA sample separately on the GeneChip® Porcine Genome Array at CapitalBio Corporation (Beijing, China).
Project description:The expression of genes were analysed in muscle of 18th day of embryonic stage between Aseel, an indigenous slow-growing chicken, and control broiler, a fast-growing broiler chicken line. The whole embryo was collected in TRIZOL and total RNA was isolated. The expression profile of gene was determined in 64k Agilent chicken microarray chip. The Cy3 dye was used for detection. The fold change of expression was analysed in Aseel as compared to broiler chicken line.
Project description:The whitefly Bemisa tabaci is a species complex with global distribution and extensive genetic diversity. In this species complex, Middle East-Asia Minor 1 (MEAM1, previously referred to as the âB biotypeâ) species has been spreading rapidly in tropical and subtropical regions. we analyzed the transcriptional responses of the invasive MEAM1 and the indigenous Asia II 3 species of B. tabaci complex during host plant shift (from cotton to tobacco) using the Illumina sequencing technology. The different gene expression pattern of energy and carbonhydrate metabolism and detoxification metabolism between MEAM1 and Asia II 3 were the main reasons of their different capacity of adapation. The global transcriptional difference between the invasive whitefly Bemisia tabaci species (MEAM1) and the indigenous whitefly species (Asia II 3) on cotton and tobacco were analyzed using the Illumina sequencing technology.
Project description:Analysis of gene expression of Bursa of Fabricius samples of 3 male chickens of 6 breeds revealed differential expression of genes related to Ingenuity pathways immune cell trafficking, cell-mediated immune response, humoral immune response and infectious disease.
