Project description:This SuperSeries is composed of the following subset Series: GSE29016: Relation between smoking history and gene expression profiles in lung adenocarcinomas GSE29065: Landscape of somatic allelic imbalances and copy number alterations in human lung carcinoma Refer to individual Series
Project description:The lung adenocarcinoma has an increased incidence in smokers. The molecular target therapy has been developed for lung adenocarcinoma patients harboring EGFR gene mutation. However, the treatment options for the patients without mutation are currently limited. Thus, analysis of EGFR gene mutation status at early stage is important strategy to classify patients for effective treatments and improving prognosis. This study aimed to identify microRNA (miRNAs) signature in relation to mutation status in EGFR gene in early stage of lung adenocarcinoma male patients with smoking history. MiRNA profiles were assessed by microarray in paired plasma and tissue pooled from 10 EGFR wild type (EGFR-wt) and 10 EGFR mutated (EGFR-mut) patients.

Project description:Differential profiles from whole genome human expression arrays on monocytes obtained from peripheral blood in COPD was studied and compared with controls. Monocytes were isolated from Controls (Group 1) which included Control Smokers (Group 1A) and Control Never Smokers (Group 1B) and COPD (Group 2) which included COPD Smokers (Group 2A) and COPD ExSmokers (Group 2B). Differential transcriptomic expression associated with (i) Smoking, (ii) COPD, and (iii) cessation of smoking were identified.
Project description:Lung adenocarcinomas (LADC) are heterogeneous disease with distinct etiology. A majority of tumors are related with tobacco smoking, and some tumors arise from never-smoking or young patients, whose clinical history do not support the environmental carcinogen-induced oncogenes. Here we analyzed complex rearrangements in lung adenocarcinomas including tumors with distinct etiologies.
Project description:Lung cancer is the worldwide leading cause of death from cancer. Tobacco usage is the major pathogenic factor, however, not all lung cancers can be attributable to smoking. The genetic aberrations that differ between smokers' and never-smokers’ lung carcinomas remain to a large extent unclear. We analyzed 72 early-stage primary lung carcinomas including small cell lung cancers LCNEC, adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas by Illumina HT12 gene expression microarrays.
Project description:Although smoking is the major risk factor for lung cancer, only 7% of female lung cancer patients in Taiwan have a history of cigarette smoking, extremely lower than those in Caucasian females. This report is a comprehensive analysis of the molecular signature of non-smoking female lung cancer in Taiwan.
