Project description:To understand the mechanism of isopropanol tolerance of Escherichia coli for improvement of isopropanol production, we performed genome re-sequencing and transcriptome analysis of isopropanol tolerant E. coli strains obtained from parallel adaptive laboratory evolution under IPA stress.
Project description:YbjN, an enterobacteria-specific protein, is a multicopy suppressor of ts9 temperature sensitivity in Escherichia coli. Microarray study revealed that the expression level of ybjN was inversely correlated with the expression of flagellar, fimbrial and acid resistance genes. Over-expression of ybjN significantly down-regulated genes involved in the citric acid cycle, glycolysis, the glyoxylate shunt, oxidative phosphorylation, and amino acid and nucleotide metabolism. On the other hand, over-expression of ybjN up-regulated toxin-antitoxin modules, the SOS responsive pathway, cold shock proteins and starvation-induced transporter genes. Our results collectively suggest that YbjN may play important roles in regulating bacterial multicellular behaviors, metabolism and survival under various stress conditions in Es. coli.
Project description:Total RNA was extracted and sequenced from Escherichia coli cultured to log phase and stable phase at 37 ° C and 45 ° C, respectively. The transcriptome data of Escherichia coli under four different growth conditions were obtained.

Project description:The purpose of this study is to determine whether the presence of pathogenic Escherichia coli in colon is associated with psychiatric disorders.
Project description:We have previously reported that phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase(Pck) overexpression under glycolytic conditions enables Escherichia coli to harbor a high intracellular ATP pool resulting in enhanced recombinant protein synthesis and biohydrogen production. To understand possible reasons of the high ATP haboring cell, we carried out transcriptome and metabolic flux analysis.
Project description:Transcriptome analysis plays a central role in elucidating the complexity of gene expression regulation in Escherichia coli. By analyzing the transcriptomics of E. coli treated with water, acetone, and Cinnamomum camphora essential oil, the inhibitory mechanism of the essential oil on the human intestinal microbe was studied. The results showed that the inhibitory effect of the essential oil on E. coli increased with an increase in concentration; 1/4 minimum inhibitory concentration was the reaction equilibrium point. RNAseq transcriptomic comparison indicated that the essential oil inhibited the growth of E. coli by inhibiting the metabolism, chemotaxis, and some resistance reactions of them, while E. coli maintained its life activities by enhancing its resistance reactions. These results are of great importance to the study of the medical use of C. camphor essential oil and gene regulation in E. coli under stress conditions.
Project description:Despite the characterization of many aetiologic genetic changes. The specific causative factors in the development of sporadic colorectal cancer remain unclear. This study was performed to detect the possible role of Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) in developing colorectal carcinoma.
Project description:The transcriptome of Escherichia coli K-12 has been widely studied over a variety of conditions for the past decade while such studies involving E. coli O157:H7, its pathogenic cousin, are just now being conducted. To better understand the impact of heat shock on E. coli O157:H7, global transcript levels of strain EDL933 cells shifted from 37°C to 50°C for 15 min were compared to cells left at 37°C using microarrays.
