Project description:In the present study, we investigated the effect of Lactococcus kimchii on healthspan using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model animal. The healthspan of the adult C. elegans fed the mixture of E. coli OP50 and Lactococcus kimchii was significantly longer than that of animals fed sole OP50 (control). Transcriptional profiling comparing Lactococcus kimchii- and control-fed animals suggested that genes related to insulin-like signaling pathway were upregulated by Lactococcus kimchii.
Project description:Transcriptonal profiling of Leuconostoc gasicomitatum LMG18811T (wild type) grown in MRS medium with or without heme. Mutant LMG18811T::pSIP1333A (mutating cydB gene which is essential in the respiratory chain) grown in MRS with or without heme. Comparing mutant and wildtype with and without heme.
Project description:Comparing of transcriptonal profiling of Leuconostoc gasicomitatum LMG18811T grown in semi-defined medium with different carbon sources (20 mM glucose, ribose, inosine).
Project description:Leuconostoc kimchii IMSNU 11154, isolated from kimchi, a traditional Korean fermented food, is known to be an important antimicrobial lactic acid bacterium with probiotic potential. Here we announce the complete genome sequence of L. kimchii IMSNU 11154 consisting of a 2,101,787-bp chromosome and five plasmids. The strain has genes for dextran formation from sucrose and for mannitol formation from fructose. Antimicrobial and antioxidative functions of L. kimchii IMSNU 11154 could be attributed to a leucosin B-like peptide and multiple enzymes to reduce hydrogen peroxide and oxidized thiols, respectively.
Project description:Leuconostoc kimchii strain C2 was isolated from fermented kimchi in Korea. Here we announce the complete genome sequence of Leuconostoc kimchii strain C2, consisting of a 1,877,174-bp chromosome with a G+C content of 37.9% and no plasmid and describe major findings from its annotation.
