Transcription profiling of wild type and dbr1-delta strains of Candida albicans grown under standard or various mixed conditions

ABSTRACT: Probes flanking all predicted Candida albicans ORFs are used to detect intron sequences that accumulate in a debranchase (DBR1) mutant. We synthesized cDNA from RNA from both wild-type and dbr1-delta mutant strains grown under standard (YEPD) or various mixed conditions, labeled the two populations differentially, and hybridized them together on our microarray.

Candida albicans is the most common fungal pathogen of humans. Frequently found as a commensal within the digestive tracts of healthy individuals, C. albicans is an opportunistic pathogen that causes a wide variety of clinical syndromes in immuno-compromised individuals. A comprehensive annotation of the C. albicans genome sequence was recently published. Because many C. albicans coding sequences are interrupted by introns, proper intron annotation is essential for the accurate definition of gen  ...[more]
