Transcription profiling by array of female Anopheles gambiae following control-PBS or sHz inoculation in order to determine which genes and pathways were activated
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Female mosquitoes, Anopheles gambiae, were injected with control-PBS or 200micrograms per ml hemozoin (sHz). Fat bodies were collected 24h post injection, before feeding. RNA was extracted and cDNA synthesized for microarray experiment. Three independent experiments (3x control and 3x sHz) arrays were performed. Fold change of genes expression in sHz-treated mosquitoes compared to PBS-treated ones was calculated. We aimed to describe how hemozoin activates the mosquito's immune system and which pathways are involved.
