Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, C(17)H(17)N(5) (+)·2ClO(4) (-), the dihedral angles between the fused-ring system and the pendant five- and six-membered heterocyclic rings are 6.4 (2) and 41.29 (19)°, respectively. The O atoms of both perchlorate anions are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancy ratios of 0.614 (8):0.386 (8) and 0.591 (7):0.409 (7). An intra-molecular C-H⋯N contact occurs in the cation. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.642 (3) Å].

Ir(III) Metal Emitters with Cyano-Modified Imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-ylidene Chelates for Deep-Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diodes.

Project description:Ir(III) carbene complexes have been explored as one of the best blue phosphors for their high performance. Herein, the authors designed and synthesized a series of blue-emitting Ir(III) phosphors (f-ct9a-c), featuring fac-coordinated cyano-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-ylidene cyclometalates. These Ir(III) complexes exhibit true-blue emission with a peak maximum spanning 448-467 nm, with high photoluminescence quantum yields of 81-88% recorded in degassed toluene. Moreover, OLED devices bearing phosphors f-ct9a and f-ct9b deliver maximum external quantum efficiencies (EQEmax) of 25.9% and 30.3%, together with Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIEx,y) coordinates of (0.157, 0.225) and (0.142, 0.169), respectively. Remarkably, the f-ct9b-based device displays an incredible EQE of 29.0% at 5000 cd·m-2. The hyper-OLED device based on f-ct9b and ν-DABNA exhibits an EQEmax of 34.7% and CIEx,y coordinates of (0.122, 0.131), affirming high potentials in achieving efficient blue electroluminescence.

Well-defined coinage metal transfer agents for the synthesis of NHC-based nickel, rhodium and palladium macrocycles.

Project description:With a view to use as carbene transfer agents, well-defined silver(i) and copper(i) complexes of a macrocyclic NHC-based pincer ligand, bearing a central lutidine donor and a dodecamethylene spacer [CNC-(CH2)12, 1], have been prepared. Although the silver adduct is characterised by X-ray diffraction as a dinuclear species anti-[Ag(?-1)]2(2+), variable temperature measurements indicate dynamic structural interchange in solution involving fragmentation into mononuclear [Ag(1)](+) on the NMR time scale. In contrast, a mononuclear structure is evident in both solution and the solid-state for the analogous copper adduct partnered with the weakly coordinating [BAr(F)4](-) counter anion. A related copper derivative, bearing instead the more coordinating cuprous bromide dianion [Cu2Br4](2-), is notable for the adoption of an interesting tetranuclear assembly in the solid-state, featuring two cuprophilic interactions and two bridging NHC donors, but is not retained on dissolution. Coinage metal precursors [M(1)]n[BAr(F)4]n (M = Ag, n = 2; M = Cu, n = 1) both act as carbene transfer agents to afford palladium, rhodium and nickel complexes of 1 and the effectiveness of these precursors has been evaluated under equivalent reaction conditions.

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 3,4-dihydro-2-(2,4-dioxo-6-methylpyran-3-ylidene)-4-(4-pyridin-4-yl)-1,5-benzodiazepine.

Project description:The title compound, C20H17N3O3 [systematic name: 2-(6-methyl-2,4-dioxo-pyran-3-yl-idene)-4-(pyridin-4-yl)-2,3,4,5-tetra-hydro-1H-1,5-benzodiazepine], is built up from a benzodiazepine ring system linked to pyridyl and pendant di-hydro-pyran rings, where the benzene and pyridyl rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 43.36 (6)°. The pendant di-hydro-pyran ring is rotationally disordered in a 90.899 (3):0.101 (3) ratio with the orientation of each component largely determined by intra-molecular N-HDiazp⋯ODhydp (Diazp = diazepine and Dhydp = di-hydro-pyran) hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via pairs of weak inter-molecular N-HDiazp⋯ODhydp hydrogen bonds, forming inversion-related dimers with R 2 2(26) ring motifs. The dimers are further connected along the b-axis direction by π-π stacking inter-actions between the pendant di-hydro-pyran and pyridyl rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.833 (3) Å and a dihedral angle of 14.51 (2)°. Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H (50.1%), H⋯C/C⋯H (17.7%), H⋯O/O⋯H (16.8%), C⋯C (7.7%) and H⋯N/N⋯H (5.3%) inter-actions. Hydrogen-bonding and van der Waals inter-actions are the dominant inter-actions in the crystal packing.

Project description:The title compound, C(7)H(6)BrN(3), crystallizes with three independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The mol-ecules are approximately planar (r.m.s. deviations for all non-H atoms = 0.016, 0.023 and 0.024?Å). The primary amine groups show pyramidal coordination. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked by N-H?N hydrogen bonds. For two independent mol-ecules, the amine groups are hydrogen-bond donors via one H atom to one acceptor atom, whereas for the third independent mol-ecule, the amine group is a hydrogen-bond donor to two acceptor atoms.
