1H-Benzotriazol-3-ium (1H-benzo-triazole-κN)trichloridocobaltate(II) monohydrate: a reformulation.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(6)H(6)N(3))[CoCl(3)(C(6)H(5)N(3))]·H(2)O, contains two crystallographically independent cations, two anions and two water mol-ecules. The structure has been reported previously [Zhang, Li, Wang, Xie, Wang & Shen (2004 ▶). Acta Cryst E60, m498-m500] as a neutral cobalt(III) complex accompanied by unprotonated benzotriazole mol-ecules and here has been redetermined as an anionic cobalt(II) complex accompanied by protonated benzotriazole cations. For both complex anions, a tetra-hedral CoNCl(3) geometry arises. A network of N-H⋯O, N-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds helps to establish the packing.

The Cu atom is coordinated by two Br ions and two N atoms in approximately square-planar geometry. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions between benzotriazole rings (centroid-centroid distance = 3.651 Å) generate a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, the Cu(II) atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. The mol-ecules are assembled into double chains extending along [010] by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. These double chains are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (02); the layers are linked into a three-dimensional network by van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:The title complex, tetra-aqua-{1-[(1H-benzotriazol-1-yl)meth-yl]-1H-1,2,4-triazole-?N(4)}(sulfato-?O)copper(II) sesquihydrate, [Cu(SO(4))(C(9)H(8)N(6))(H(2)O)(4)]·1.5H(2)O, is composed of one copper atom, one 1-[(2H-benzotriazol-1-yl)meth-yl]-1-H-1,2,4-triazole (bmt) ligand, one sulfate ligand, four coordin-ated water mol-ecules and one and a half uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The Cu(II) atom is six-coordinated by one N atom from a bmt ligand and five O atoms from the monodentate sulfate ligand and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the sulfate anion and the coordin-ated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.
