ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(8)H(7)N(3)O(2))(2)], the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by two chloride ions and two N atoms in a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular C-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 2-(1H-1,2,3-benzotriazol-1-ylmeth-yl)isoindole-1,3-dione], C(15)H(10)N(4)O(2), was prepared by the reaction of 1H-benzotriazole and 2-bromo-methyl-isoindole-1,3-dione. The benzotriazole and isoindole units are almost planar and make a dihedral angle of 70.2?(1)° (mean planes include C and N atoms). A weak C-H?O intra-molecular hydrogen bond involving a carbonyl O atom as acceptor stabilizes the observed mol-ecular conformation.

Project description:The title zinc complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(18)H(22)N(4))], contains a bidentate 1,2-bis(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benz-ene ligand that binds to the zinc atom, forming a nine-membered metallocyclic ring. The geometry about the Zn atom is distorted tetra-hedral, with the largest deviation observed in the magnitude of the Cl-Zn-Cl angle. Similar distortions are observed in the cobalt analogue and related zinc compounds containing metallocyclic rings with more than six members. The copper analogue exhibits a more severe distortion of the metal coordination sphere than is observed in the title compound.

Another N-heterocycle present is not coordinated to the metal atom but inter-acts with the chain through N-H?N and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The butyl chain of the uncoordinated ligand is disordered over three positions in a 0.511?(4):0.289?(5):0.200?(5) ratio.
