(2-Chloro-phen-yl)(diphenyl-phosphor-yl)methanol.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(19)H(16)ClO(2)P, was obtained by the reaction of diphenyl-phosphine oxide with 2-chloro-benzaldehyde. The mol-ecule has a tetra-hedral structure at the P atom. The dihedral angle between the phenyl rings attached to the P atom is 80.4 (1)°. The mol-ecules are linked together by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actrions. The crystal studied was an inversion twin.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(16)ClNO, an S(6) ring motif is formed via an intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond. The chloro-substituted benzene ring is almost perpendicular to the benzene rings, forming dihedral angles of 87.33 (9) and 88.69 (9)°. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 87.17 (9)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains parallel to the c axis by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal packing also features weak C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the chloro-substituted ring.

Project description:In the title racemic compound, C12H10ClNO, the dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings is 74.34 (6)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag C(5) [001] chains in which alternating R- and S-configuration mol-ecules are related by c-glide symmetry. In addition, inversion-related pairs of mol-ecules are linked into dimers by pairs of weak C-Cl⋯π(pyrid-yl) inter-actions, which link the hydrogen-bonded chains into (100) sheets. Structural comparisons are drawn with a number of related compounds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title hydrate, C(9)H(8)ClN(3)O·0.5H(2)O, comprises two independent 1,2,3-triazole mol-ecules and a water mol-ecule of crystallization. The dihedral angles between the six- and five-membered rings in the 1,2,3-triazole mol-ecules are 12.71 (19) and 17.3 (2)°. The most significant different between them is found in the relative orientations of the terminal CH(2)OH groups with one being close to perpendicular to the five-membered ring [N-C-C-O torsion angle = 82.2 (5)°], while in the other mol-ecule, a notable deviation from a perpendicular disposition is found [torsion angle = -60.3 (5)°]. Supra-molecular chains feature in the crystal packing sustained by O-H⋯(O,N) inter-actions along the a-axis direction. The chains are connected via C-H⋯N inter-actions and the resultant layers stack along the b axis.

Project description:2-(Diphenyl-thio-phosphino)dimethyl-amino-methyl-ferrocene is a key inter-mediate in the synthesis of various ferrocenyl ligands. During one such synthesis, the title compound, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(20)H(22)NPS)](C(12)H(10)PS(2)), was isolated as a by-product. It is built up by association of (2-(diphenyl-phosphino)ferrocen-yl)meth-yl)dimethyl-ammonium cations and diphenyl-phosphino dithio-ate anions. N-H?S, C-H?S and C-H?? inter-actions link the anions and cations. Each anion-cation pair is linked two by two through C-H?? inter-actions, forming pseudo dimers.

Project description:The absolute configuration of the title mol-ecule, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(38)H(34)NP(2))]·CHCl(3), is R,R(p). The mol-ecular structure is similar to the structure of the solvent-free compound [Fukuzawa, Yamamoto & Kikuchi (2007 ▶). J. Org. Chem. 72, 1514-1517], but some torsion angles about the P-C(phen-yl) bonds differ by up to 25°. The P atoms and the N atom have a distorted trigonal-pyramidal geometry. The chloro-form solvate group donates a C-H⋯π bond to the central benzene ring and is also involved in six inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl contacts with H⋯Cl distances between 2.96 and 3.13 Å.
