Poly[tetra-aqua-?(4)-bromido-di-?(2)-bromido-?(2)-hydroxido-di-?(3)-iso-nicotinato-tetra-?(2)-isonicotinato-tetra-copper(I)dithulium(III)].

ABSTRACT: A new thulium(III)-copper(I) heterometallic coordination polymer, [Cu(4)Tm(2)Br(3)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(6)(OH)(H(2)O)(4)](n), has been prepared by a hydro-thermal method. The Tm and both Cu atoms lie on mirror planes. The Tm atom is seven-coordinate with a capped distorted trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry, while the Cu atoms adopt trigonal CuBrN(2) and tetra-hedral CuBr(3)N coordination modes, respectively. The Cu atom in the trigonal coordination environment is disordered over two sites of equal occupancy. The crystal structure is constructed from two distinct units of dimeric [Tm(2)(?(2)-OH(IN)(6)(H(2)O)(4)] cores (IN = isonicotinate) and one-dimensional inorganic [Cu(4)Br(3)](n) chains, which are linked together, forming heterometallic Cu-halide-lanthanide-organic layers.

Project description:A new lanthanum(III)-copper(I) heterometallic coordination polymer, [Cu(7)La(3)Br(6)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(8)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(H(2)O)(4)](n), has been prepared by a hydro-thermal method. Of the three La atoms in the asymmetric unit, two are eight-coordinate with bicapped trigonal-prismatic configurations; the third is nine-coordinated and has a tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry. Of the seven Cu atoms, two are two-coordinate with CuBrN and CuN(2) ligand sets, three have trigonal configurations, viz. CuBrN(2), CuBr(2)N and CuBr(3), while the remaining two adopt distorted tetra-hedral CuBr(3)N geometries. In the crystal structure, adjacent La centers are linked by isonicotinate (IN(-)) and benzene-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate ligands to form a two-dimensional La-carboxyl-ate layer in the ab plane. These layers are further inter-connected with each other by bridging [Cu(IN)(2)] motifs, leading to an unusual three-dimensional heterometallic Cu-halide-lanthanide-organic framework, with the inorganic [Cu(6)Br(6)](n) chains located in the resulting channels. Two Cu atoms are disordered over two positions, both with site occupancy factors of 0.80 and 0.20. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between water molecules and carboxylate O atoms helps to consolidate the crystal packing.

Adjacent La(III) atoms are bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands, forming an extended chain along [001]. These chains are linked through O-H?N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network with channels in which the chloride anions form O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Intra-chain O-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908?(2)?Å] are also observed.

Project description:The title compound, [CuEu(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(8)(H(2)O)(4)](n), displays a one-dimensional chain structure. The four-coordinate Cu(II) ion (site symmetry ) adopts a trans-CuN(2)O(2) geometry and is bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands. The Eu(III) ion adopts a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry, being coordinated by four O atoms from bridging carboxyl-ate groups of four isonicotinate ligands, two O atoms from chelating carboxyl-ate groups of one isonicotinate ligand and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules; adjacent Eu(III) ions in the chain are related by inversion. The water mol-ecules interact with the ligands via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.782 (3)-2.881 (3) Å], which link the chains into a three-dimensional structure.

The metal atoms display a distorted tetragonal-pyramidal coordination geometry, and are linked by two ?(2)- and two ?(3)-hydroxo groups, assuming a chair-like conformation for the Cu(4)O(2) core. Project description:The product obtained from the reaction of pyridine-2,3-di-carb-oxy-lic acid and hydrated copper(II) chloride in hot aqueous NaOH solution was determined by low temperature X-ray diffraction to be [Cu3(C6H4NO3)4(OH)2(H2O)2] n or [Cu3(μ-OH)2(μ-nicNO)4(H2O)2] n (nicNO is pyridine-3-carboxyl-ate N-oxide), a structure obtained from room temperature data and reported previously. The present determination is improved in quality and treatment of the H atoms. A Hirshfeld surface analysis of the inter-molecular inter-actions is presented.

O-H?O hydrogen bonds, weak Ag?Ag [3.3340?(15)?Å] inter-actions and ?-? inter-actions between the pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.656?(2)?Å] lead to a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, [Cu(C(6)H(3)BrNO(2))(2)](n), is composed of two structurally similar two-dimensional coordination polymers (twin layers). Both of them have the same chemical composition but they display different bond lengths and angles. In each layer, two N atoms and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the bridging 5-bromo-nicotinate ligands and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the terminal 5-bromo-nicotinate ligands bind to two Cu(II) atoms to form a dinuclear paddle-wheel-like pattern. Adjacent paddle wheels are further linked by bridging 5-bromo-nicotinate groups to generate a two-dimensional coordination polymer; neighboring twin-like layers are finally stacked through ?-? stacking interactions between adjacent pyridine rings [perpendicular distance of 3.626?(2)?Å] in a 'sandwich' manner, thus generating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.
