Tetra-kis[2-(benzyl-amino-carbonyl)phenox-ymeth-yl]methane.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(61)H(56)N(4)O(8), is arranged with all four salicylamide arms disposed in a circular fashion. Each arm has a similar conformation and they are extended so that their terminal groups can fold back. The four carbonyl O atoms are located on the outside of the mol-ecule. The structure is stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The title salt, [P(NHCH(2)C(6)H(5))(4)](+)·Cl(-), crystallizes with the P atom and Cl(-) anion lying on a twofold rotation axis. The P atom has a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry with two classes of N-P-N angles [101.15 (10) and 100.55 (11)° and 113.07 (9) and 114.83 (8)°] and the environments of sp(2)-hybridized N atoms are essentially planar (sum of angles = 359.9 and 360.1°). In the crystal, the phospho-nium ion inter-acts with each neighboring chloride ion via two approximately equal N-H⋯Cl inter-actions, forming parallel chains along the c axis.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C21H16N4O4·4CH3OH, consists of a quarter mol-ecule of tetra-kis-(1-oxidopyridin-2-yl)methane and one methanol solvent mol-ecule. In the crystal, the pyridine N-oxide derivative is located about a fourfold rotoinversion axis and exhibits S 4 symmetry along the c axis. An inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed between the O atom of the pyridine N-oxide and the OH group of the methanol. An inter-molecular C-H⋯O bond is also observed between adjacent pyridine N-oxide rings.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(C(48)H(36)N(4))]·CH(2)Cl(2), the Zn(II) atom lies on an inversion center and the dichloro-methane solvent mol-ecule is disordered around an inversion center. The tolyl substituents are twisted compared to the central aromatic ring system of the porphyrin, similar to what is seen in previously published structures of this molecule [Dastidar & Goldberg (1996 ▶). Acta Cryst. C52, 1976-1980]. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the tolyl rings and the central ring are 66.98 (6) and 60.40 (6)°.

Crystal structure of a second polymorph of tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)methane.

Project description:A second polymorph of the title compound, C21H16N4, is reported. The original polymorph was solved by our group [Matsumoto et al. (2003 ?). Tetra-hedron Lett. 44, 2861-2864] in the monoclinic space group C2/c and refined to R = 0.050. Now the crystal structure of a tetra-gonal polymorph (space group P-421 c) has been solved and refined to R = 0.036. In the crystal, there are no strong inter-molecular inter-actions. Reflecting the high symmetry of the mol-ecular structure, the asymmetric unit is a quarter of the mol-ecule, and the mol-ecule exhibits S4 symmetry along the c axis in the crystal.

In the cation, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by six N atoms of two C(py)4 ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the anion, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS(-) ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The methanol mol-ecule is disordered and was modelled over three orientations (occupancies 0.8:0.1:0.1). There are two weak hydrogen-bond-like inter-actions between the methanol solvent mol-ecule and NCS(-) ligands of the anion [O⋯S = 3.283 (3) and 3.170 (2) Å].
