Catena-Poly[[bis-(3,5-dicarboxy-benzo-ato)cobalt(II)]-?-4,4'-bipyridine].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(9)H(5)O(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the asymmetric unit consists of one Co(2+) ion with site symmetry 2, one mono-deprotonated 1,3,5-benzene-tricarboxylic acid anion and one-half of a 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) mol-ecule, in which two N and two C atoms have site symmetry 2. In the crystal structure, the Co(2+) centre is coordinated by four O atoms from two bidentate carboxyl-ate groups of two anions and two N atoms of two 4,4'-bipy mol-ecules, resulting in infinite chains propagating in [010]. The cobalt coordination is distorted trans-CoO(4)N(2) octa-hedral and inter-chain O-H?O hydrogen bonds complete the structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(3)NO(4))·3H(2)O}(n), consists of Co(II) polymeric complex cations, uncoordinated pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions and lattice water mol-ecules. The Co(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The 4,4'-bipyridine ligands bridge Co cations, forming a polymeric chain running along the b axis. The two pyridine rings of the 4,4'-biyridine are twisted to each other by a dihedral angle of 8.95 (9)°. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding network is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(10)H(8)N(2)·2H(2)O}(n), slightly distorted octa-hedrally coordinated Co(II) ions situated on inversion centers are linked into polycationic chains through 4,4'-bipyridine tethering ligands. These are connected into supra-molecular layers by hydrogen bonding involving aqua ligands, perchlorate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. A twofold inter-penetrated primitive cubic supra-molecular network is formed by the inter-action of pseudo-layers by hydrogen bonding between aqua ligands and unligated 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C(12)H(6)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Mn atoms are each coordinated by four O atoms of naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two N atoms of two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within a strongly distorted octa-hedra. Two of the O atoms originate from one naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion, whereas the remaining two O atoms derive from two symmetry-equivalent naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Two Mn atoms are connected via the anions into dimers, which are further linked by the anions and the N-donor ligands into a three-dimensional coordination network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ag(C(8)H(5)O(7)S)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Ag atom is tetra-coordinated by two 4,4'-bipydidine (4,4'-bipy) N atoms and two monodentate sulfonate O atoms of the 5-sulfoisophthalic acid (H(3)sip) ligands. Adjacent Ag atoms are bonded through four sulfonate O atoms, forming a dinuclear unit with an Ag⋯Ag separation of 3.384 (5) Å; they are further linked together by the 4,4'-bipy lignds into a chain. Project description:The title compound, {[Co(C(2)H(5)COO)(2)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized by the reaction of cobalt(II) carbonate hydrate with aqueous propionic acid. The structure consists of polymeric infinite linear chains with composition [Co(C(2)H(5)COO)(4/2)(H(2)O)(2/2)](∞) running along [010]. The chains are formed by Co(2+) ions linked with bridging propionate groups and water mol-ecules, with a Co⋯Co distance along the chains of 3.2587 (9) Å. The Co(2+) ion is six-coordinated in a strongly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The chains are connected to each other by a network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving solvent water mol-ecules.
