Catena-Poly[[[tetra-aqua-cobalt(II)]-μ-4,4'-bipyridine-κN:N'] pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate trihydrate].

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(3)NO(4))·3H(2)O}(n), consists of Co(II) polymeric complex cations, uncoordinated pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions and lattice water mol-ecules. The Co(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The 4,4'-bipyridine ligands bridge Co cations, forming a polymeric chain running along the b axis. The two pyridine rings of the 4,4'-biyridine are twisted to each other by a dihedral angle of 8.95 (9)°. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding network is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(10)H(8)N(2)·2H(2)O}(n), slightly distorted octa-hedrally coordinated Co(II) ions situated on inversion centers are linked into polycationic chains through 4,4'-bipyridine tethering ligands. These are connected into supra-molecular layers by hydrogen bonding involving aqua ligands, perchlorate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. A twofold inter-penetrated primitive cubic supra-molecular network is formed by the inter-action of pseudo-layers by hydrogen bonding between aqua ligands and unligated 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules.

A 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule bridges two water-coordinated Cu atoms, each of which is connected to another 4,4'-bipyridine, giving rise to a square-pyramidal coordination geometry for the Cu(II) centers. Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(10)H(9)N(2))(2)[Mn(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)(H(2)O)(8)](C(8)H(3)O(7)S)(2)·C(10)H(8)N(2)·15H(2)O, consists of dinuclear Mn(II) complex cations, sulfonato-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate trianions, 4-(4-pyridyl)pyridinium cations, uncoordin-ated 4,4'-bipyridine and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. One 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule bridges two Mn atoms, forming a centrosymmetric dinuclear complex; the mid-point of the C-C bond linking the pyridine rings of the bridging ligand is located on an inversion center. Each Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four water and two 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Mn(II) atom deviates by 0.591?(5) and 0.209?(2)?Å from the mean planes of the coordinated pyridine rings. In the 4-(4-pyridyl)pyridinium cation, the two pyridine rings are twisted with respect to each other, making dihedral angle of 34.78?(17)°. The uncoordinated bipyridine mol-ecule is also centrosymmetric. One of uncoordinated water mol-ecules has site symmetry 2, and the other uncoordinated water mol-ecule is located close to an inversion center and its one H atom is disordered equally over two sites. Extensive ?-? stacking between pyridine rings is observed and an extensive hydrogen-bonding network of the types N-H?N, O-H?N and O-H?O is present.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, 2[Ag(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](C(7)H(6)NO(2))(NO(3))·H(2)O, the Ag(I) atom is three-coordinated in a T-shaped configuration by two N atoms from two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands at short distances and by one water O atom at a longer distance. Each bipy ligand bridges two neighbouring Ag(I) atoms, forming a chain structure extending parallel to [101]. The complete 4-amino-benzoate anion, the nitrate anion and the uncoordinated water mol-ecule are located on mirror planes: together with the coordinated water mol-ecule, they form N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, stabilizing the crystal structure.

Project description:The title complex, {[Cd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O}(n), is a one-dimensional coordination polymer, wherein the Cd atom is seven-coordinated by two 1,10-phenanthroline N atoms, one N and three O atoms from two different pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, and one water mol-ecule. It is further extended to a two-dimensional layer structure by hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances of 3.560 (2) and 3.666 (2) Å]. There is a C4 water chain in the structure whose repeat unit contains four water mol-ecules with O⋯O distances in the range 2.748 (3)-2.795 (4) Å. One of the two H atoms of each water of hydration is statistically distributed over two positions with equal occupancy.
