2,6-Bis[1-(2,6-diethyl-phenyl-imino)eth-yl]pyridine.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(29)H(35)N(3), is the product of the condensation reaction between 2,6-diacetyl-pyridine and 2,6-diethyl-aniline. In the mol-ecule, the pyridyl ring is coplanar with the imino functional groups [torsion angles in the range 177.1 (2)-179.9 (2)°. The two 2,6-diethyl-substituted benzene rings are approximately perpendicular to the ethyl-idenepyridine central core, the dihedral angles being 88.7 (1) and 88.4 (1)°, respectively.

Project description:The title compound, C(27)H(31)N(3), has E substitution at each imine double bond where the two N atoms adopt a trans-trans relationship. The benzene rings are twisted out of the mean plane of the pyridine ring; the mean planes of the aromatic groups are rotated by 63.0 (1) and 72.58 (8)°. The crystal structure is sustained mainly by C-H⋯π and hydro-phobic methyl-methyl inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(24)H(24)N(2), is an enanti-omerically pure bis-aldimine, which displays twofold crystallographic symmetry, with two C atoms of the central benzene ring lying on the symmetry axis. The imine group is slightly twisted from the benzene core, with a dihedral angle of 12.72 (16)° between the benzene ring and the C=N-C(*) plane. The terminal phenyl rings make an angle of 66.44 (4)° and are oriented in opposite directions with respect to the benzene ring. Project description:The title compound, 2C(21)H(19)N(3)O(2)·H(2)O, was synthesized by a Schiff base condensation of 2,6-diformyl-pyridine with 2-amino-4-methyl-phenol in ethanol. In the crystal, two mol-ecules of 2,6-bis-[(2-hy-droxy-5-methyl-phen-yl)imino-meth-yl]pyridine dimer-ize via hydrogen bonding to a water mol-ecule, which lies on a twofold axis. There are also intra-molecular phenol-imine hydrogen bonds. The dimers are further linked via π-π (phen-yl-pyridine) [centroid-centroid distance = 3.707 (2) Å] and π-π edge-to-edge [3.392 (2) Å] inter-actions. The dihedral angles between the central ring and the two pendant rings are 11.46 (8) and 2.06 (8)° while the pendant rings make a dihedral angle of 10.14 (8)°.

The pyrazole and phenyl rings on each side of the pyridine ring are also approximately coplanar, making dihedral angles of 6.0 (2) and 4.5 (2)°. In the crystal structure, 2,6-bis-(3-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridine and water mol-ecules are linked together via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a column running parallel to the a axis.
