ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(11)H(18)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), the dihedral angle between the two planar imidozlium rings is 6.1?(2)°. Both [PF(6)](-) anions are disordered [occupancies 0.65?(2):0.35?(2) and 0.59?(5):0.41?(5)]. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?F hydrogen bonds which link two mol-ecules, forming centrosymmetric dimers.

Inter-molecular C-H?F, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.

The hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.520?(11):0.480?(11) ratio.

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(22)N(6) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), was prepared by the reaction of 5,5'-bis-(bromo-meth-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine with 1-methyl-imidazole. The main mol-ecule lies on an inversion center located at the mid-point of the C-C bond joining the two pyridine rings. The asymmetric unit therefore contains one half-mol-ecule and one hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and imidazole rings is 76.93 (7)°. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds contribute to the stabilization of the packing.

In the 3,3'-diethyl-1,1'-(propane-1,3-di-yl)di(1H-imidazol-3-ium) cation, the dihedral angle between the imidazole rings is 49.3?(1)°. In the [Ag(2)I(4)](2-) anion, each Ag(I) atom is bonded to three iodide anions, the two Ag(I) atoms and two of the iodides forming Ag(2)I(2) square-planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.01?Å) units·The remaining two iodides, which are placed on opposite sides of the square, together with their centrosymmetric counterparts, link the square-planar Ag(2)I(2) units into {[Ag(2)I(4)](2-)}(n) polymeric chains via Ag-I bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(25)H(30)N(4) (2+)·2Br(-)·H(2)O, was synthesized from 1,1'-propyl-enedibenzimidazole and (E)-1-bromo-but-2-ene in dimethyl-formamide solution. The two benzimidazole ring systems are essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.011?(4) and 0.023?(3)?Å. The dihedral angle between these two ring systems is 25.87?(15)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?Br and C-H?Br hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. Atmospheric water was incorporated into the crystal structure.
