Catena-Poly[3,3'-diethyl-1,1'-(propane-1,3-di-yl)di(1H-imidazol-3-ium) [silver(I)-di-?-iodido-silver(I)-di-?-iodido]].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, {(C(13)H(22)N(4))[Ag(2)I(4)]}(n), was prepared by reaction of 1,3-bis-(N-ethyl-imidazolium-1-yl)propane iodide with silver (I) oxide. In the 3,3'-diethyl-1,1'-(propane-1,3-di-yl)di(1H-imidazol-3-ium) cation, the dihedral angle between the imidazole rings is 49.3?(1)°. In the [Ag(2)I(4)](2-) anion, each Ag(I) atom is bonded to three iodide anions, the two Ag(I) atoms and two of the iodides forming Ag(2)I(2) square-planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.01?Å) units·The remaining two iodides, which are placed on opposite sides of the square, together with their centrosymmetric counterparts, link the square-planar Ag(2)I(2) units into {[Ag(2)I(4)](2-)}(n) polymeric chains via Ag-I bonds.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C16H26N4O6S2·2H2O, a water-soluble di-N-heterocyclic carbene ligand precursor was determined using a single crystal grown by the slow cooling of a hot N,N-di-methyl-formamide solution of the compound. The dihydrate crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c, with half of the zwitterionic mol-ecule and one water mol-ecule of crystallization in the asymmetric unit. The remaining part of the mol-ecule is completed by inversion symmetry. In the mol-ecule, the imidazole ring planes are parallel with a plane-to-plane distance of 2.741 (2) Å. The supra-molecular network is consolidated by hydrogen bonds of medium strength between the zwitterionic mol-ecules and the water mol-ecules of crystallization, as well as by π-π stacking inter-actions between the imidazole rings of neighbouring mol-ecules and C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(28)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), the dihedral angles between the benzene ring and the imidazole rings are 70.18 (11) and 69.83 (11)°, while the imidazole rings form a dihedral angle of 40.52 (12)°. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯F inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional network parallel to (001). A π-π inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.601 (1) Å is also observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title N-heterocyclic carbene compound, C(32)H(30)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), the mean plane of the naphthalene ring system makes dihedral angles of 79.15 (15) and 76.85 (16) with the imidazole rings and 56.15 (19) and 80.56 (16)° with the benzene rings. An intra-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bond occurs. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯F inter-actions. In addition, π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.848 (1) and 3.574 (3) Å] are observed. The nine equatorial F atoms in the two PF(6) (-) anions were disordered over two positions with occupancy ratios of 0.545 (10):0.455 (10) and 0.793 (11):0.207 (11) in the two anions.

Project description:The title compound, C(25)H(30)N(4) (2+)·2Br(-)·H(2)O, was synthesized from 1,1'-propyl-enedibenzimidazole and (E)-1-bromo-but-2-ene in dimethyl-formamide solution. The two benzimidazole ring systems are essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.011 (4) and 0.023 (3) Å. The dihedral angle between these two ring systems is 25.87 (15)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H⋯Br and C-H⋯Br hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. Atmospheric water was incorporated into the crystal structure.

Adjacent Cd ions are inter-connected alternately by paired Cl(-) bridges to generate an infinite one-dimensional coordination chain along the b axis. In the chain, the crystallographically unique Cd(II) atom, with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, is coordinated by five Cl(-) ions and one water mol-ecule. Intra-chain O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anionic chains consolidate the crystal packing.

The central benzene ring makes a dihedral angle of 77.19 (9)° with each of the imidazole rings. In the crystal, C-H⋯F inter-actions link the cations and anions into layers lying parallel to the bc plane. The hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.520 (11):0.480 (11) ratio.
