ABSTRACT: In the cation of the title compound, (C(15)H(20)N(2))[CdBr(4)], the dihedral angle between the two pyridine rings is 70.85?(5)°. An inter-molecular ?-? inter-action between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.900?(4)?Å] is observed. The Cd(II) atom has a distorted tetra-hedral coordination.

Project description:The title compound, (C(13)H(16)N(2))[NiCl(4)] or (H(2)bpp)·NiCl(4) [bpp is 1,3-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)propane], is isostructural with its already reported Cu, Zn and Hg analogues. The structure consists of a doubly charged (H(2)bpp)(2+) cation and a tetra-hedral [NiCl(4)](2-) dianion. Both pyridyl N atoms are protonated and form a (H(2)bpp)(2+) cation which adopts an anti-anti conformation with a dihedral angle of 6.287?(7)° between the pyridyl rings. The two pyridyl N atoms are both involved in strong N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, which link both units into a dimer.

The crystal packing is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds between the cation and the tetrahedral anion, building up a three-dimensionnal network.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(14)H(18)N(2))[Pb(2)I(6)]}(n), consists of discrete 1,1'-dimethyl-4,4'-(ethane-1,2-di-yl)dipyridinium cations and one-dimensional [Pb(2)I(6)](n) anions. The organic cation has an inversion center at the mid-point of the ethane C-C bond. In the anion, the Pb(II) atom is coordinated by six I atoms in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The I atoms bridge the Pb(II) atoms into a polymeric chain running along [001]. These inorganic chains are separated by the isolated organic cations.

Project description:In the title compound, 1.70C(14)H(14)N(+)·0.15C(28)H(28)N(2) (2+)·2C(6)H(5)O(3)S(-), the monocation exists in the E configuration with respect to the ethenyl C=C double bond and is close to planar, the dihedral angle between the pyridinium and phenyl ring being 5.20?(13)°. The dication lies about an inversion centre. In the crystal, the dication occupies almost the same site occupied by monocations at (x, y, z) and (2?-?x, 1?-?y, 1?-?z). The O atoms of the anion are disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.75 and 0.25. In the crystal, the cations are stacked in an anti-parallel manner along the a axis, whereas the anions are linked into chains along the same direction by C-H?O hydrogen bonds.
