Poly[bis-(2,2'-bipyridine-?N,N')deca-?-oxido-dioxidodicopper(II)tetra-vanadium(V)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(2)V(4)O(12)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), shows a two-dimensional copper-vanadate layer composed of eight-membered rings, each containing four corner-sharing VO(4) tetra-hedra; these are linked through six penta-coordinated Cu(II) atoms with the 2,2'-bipyridine ligands attached and pointing above and below the plane of the layer. The Cu atom is coordinated by two N donors from the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and three O atoms from three adjacent VO(4) units to form a distorted tetragonal pyramid. These layers are further connected by ?-? inter-actions between inter-leaving bipyridine ligands of adjacent layers [centroid-centroid distances = 3.63?(1) and 3.68?(1)?Å] into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title organic-inorganic hybrid vanadate complex, [Cu(2)V(6)O(17)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](n), the Cu(II) atom is six-coordinated by two chelating 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands and two vanadate O atoms in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Two [Cu(bipy)(2)V(3)O(8)] units are linked by a bridging O atom, which lies on an inversion center, forming a dimeric unit. The dimeric units are further connected by bridging vanadate O atoms into a two-dimensional layer parallel to (100). The layers are connected by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(2)V(8)O(21)(2,2'-bpy)(2)](n) (bpy = bipyridine, C(10)H(8)N(2)), the asymmetric unit contains four independent V atoms briged by 11 O atoms, one of which lies on an inversion center, and a [Cu(2,2'-bpy)](2+) unit. Three V atoms in the polyoxoanion exhibit distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometries while the fourth V atom adopts a trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Cu atom adopts a square-pyramidal geometry being coordinated by two nitro-gen donors of a 2,2'-bpy ligand, and three bridging O atoms which are linked with V atoms. The V(8) polyoxoanion is connected to [Cu(2,2'-bpy)](2+) cations, resulting in a two-dimensional layer structure extending parallel to (010). C-H?O hydrogen bonding consolidates the structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](2)[SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)]·6H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of a transition metal complex [Co(en)(3)](3+) cation (en is ethyl-enediamine), one half of an [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion, two solvent water mol-ecules in general positions and two half-mol-ecules of water located on a mirror plane. In the complex cation, the Co(3+) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by six N atoms of the three chelating en ligands. One of the en ligands exhibits disorder of its aliphatic chain over two sets of sites of equal occupancy. The [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion is a four-electron reduced bivanadyl-capped ?-Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium-oxide cluster. In the crystal, it is located on a mirror plane, which results in disorder of the central tetra-hedral SiO(4) group: the O atoms of this group occupy two sets of sites related by a mirror plane. Furthermore, all of the eight ?(2)-oxide groups are also disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy. There are extensive inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the complex cations and inorganic polyoxidoanions, leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(16)H(31)O(2))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·2CH(3)OH, contains one half-mol-ecule of the metal complex solvated by a methanol mol-ecule. In the complex, two of the metal atoms are doubly bridged by two monodentate bridging hexa-deca-noate ligands around a center of inversion. The square-pyramidal geometry around each Cu(II) ion is completed by a terminal hexa-deca-noate O atom and two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. The alkyl chains of the carboxyl-ate ligands are arranged in a parallel manner with an all-trans conformation. In the crystal, a π-π inter-action formed by the bipyridine rings [centroid-centroid separation = 3.7723 (17) Å] and inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the complex mol-ecules into infinite chains along the b axis. An O-H⋯O interaction between the methanol solvate and one of the carboxylate O atoms is also observed.

A partially overlapped arrangement between the bipyridine ligands and the aromatic ring of the sulfoisophthalate group of adjacent anions is observed; the distance (3.357 Å) indicates π-π stacking. Hydrogen bonds, with the water mol-ecules serving as hydrogen-bond donors, lead to a three-dimensional network architecture.
