Poly[tetra-kis(2,2'-bipyridine)undeca-?-oxido-hexa-oxidodicopper(II)hexa-vanadium(V)].

ABSTRACT: In the title organic-inorganic hybrid vanadate complex, [Cu(2)V(6)O(17)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](n), the Cu(II) atom is six-coordinated by two chelating 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands and two vanadate O atoms in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Two [Cu(bipy)(2)V(3)O(8)] units are linked by a bridging O atom, which lies on an inversion center, forming a dimeric unit. The dimeric units are further connected by bridging vanadate O atoms into a two-dimensional layer parallel to (100). The layers are connected by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)V(4)O(12)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), shows a two-dimensional copper-vanadate layer composed of eight-membered rings, each containing four corner-sharing VO(4) tetra-hedra; these are linked through six penta-coordinated Cu(II) atoms with the 2,2'-bipyridine ligands attached and pointing above and below the plane of the layer. The Cu atom is coordinated by two N donors from the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and three O atoms from three adjacent VO(4) units to form a distorted tetragonal pyramid. Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](2)[SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)]·6H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of a transition metal complex [Co(en)(3)](3+) cation (en is ethyl-enediamine), one half of an [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion, two solvent water mol-ecules in general positions and two half-mol-ecules of water located on a mirror plane. In the complex cation, the Co(3+) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by six N atoms of the three chelating en ligands. One of the en ligands exhibits disorder of its aliphatic chain over two sets of sites of equal occupancy. The [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion is a four-electron reduced bivanadyl-capped ?-Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium-oxide cluster. In the crystal, it is located on a mirror plane, which results in disorder of the central tetra-hedral SiO(4) group: the O atoms of this group occupy two sets of sites related by a mirror plane. Furthermore, all of the eight ?(2)-oxide groups are also disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy. There are extensive inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the complex cations and inorganic polyoxidoanions, leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

The geometry around the metal atom of the cation resembles a distorted octa-hedron, with each of the three di-t-Bu-bipy ligands being almost planar [deviation from planarity < 6.3?(2)°]. Supra-molecular inter-actions, namely Mo=O??, C N??, C-H?O and C-H?N, along with electrostatic forces, mediate the crystal packing. Two of the tert-butyl groups are affected by rotational disorder which was modeled over two distinct positions with major site occupancies of 0.707?(9) and 0.769?(8).

The structure of the dinuclear tetracation exhibits significant distortion from planarity in the bridging 2,3,5,6-tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine (tppz) ligand, which has a saddle-like geometry with an average dihedral angle of 42.96?(18)° between adjacent pyridine rings. The metal-ligand coordination environment is nearly equivalent for the two Ru(II) atoms, which have a distorted octa-hedral geometry due to the restricted bite angle [157.57?(13)-159.28?(12)°] of their two mer-arranged tridendate ligands [2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) and tppz] orthogonal to each other. At the peripheral tpy ligands, the average Ru-N bond distance is 2.072?(4)?Å for the outer N atoms trans to each other (N(outer)) and 1.984?(1)?Å for the central N atoms (N(central)). At the bridging tppz ligand, the average metal-ligand distances are significantly shorter [2.058?(4)?Å for Ru-N(outer) and 1.965?(1)?Å for Ru-N(central)] as a result of both the geometric constraints and the stronger ?-acceptor ability of the pyrazine-centered bridge. The dihedral angle between the two tpy planes is 27.11?(6)°. The intra-molecular linear distance between the two Ru atoms is 6.6102?(7)?Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(2)V(8)O(21)(2,2'-bpy)(2)](n) (bpy = bipyridine, C(10)H(8)N(2)), the asymmetric unit contains four independent V atoms briged by 11 O atoms, one of which lies on an inversion center, and a [Cu(2,2'-bpy)](2+) unit. Three V atoms in the polyoxoanion exhibit distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometries while the fourth V atom adopts a trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Cu atom adopts a square-pyramidal geometry being coordinated by two nitro-gen donors of a 2,2'-bpy ligand, and three bridging O atoms which are linked with V atoms. The V(8) polyoxoanion is connected to [Cu(2,2'-bpy)](2+) cations, resulting in a two-dimensional layer structure extending parallel to (010). C-H?O hydrogen bonding consolidates the structure.

Project description:The title tetra-nuclear complex, [Cu(4)Cl(6)O(C(13)H(11)N(3))(4)], features a tetra-hedral arrangement of copper(II) ions bonded to the central O atom (site symmetry [Formula: see text]). Each of the six edges of the Cu(4) tetra-hedron is bridged by a chloride ion (one of which has site symmetry 2), so that each copper ion is linked to the other three metal ions through the central O atom and through three separate chloride-ion bridges. The fifth coord-ination position, located on the central Cu-O axis on the outside of the cluster, is occupied by an N atom of the mono-dentate 1-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)-1H-benzimidazole ligand. The resulting coordination geometry of the metal ion is a distorted trigonal bipyramid with the O and N atoms in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the benzimidazole ring system and the pendant pyridine ring is 61.0?(2)°.
