ABSTRACT: The chiral title compound, C(4)H(10)NO(+)·C(4)H(5)O(6) (-)·H(2)O, is a hydrated mol-ecular salt in which the tartaric acid has transferred one proton to the (S)-2-amino-propan-1-ol mol-ecule. The crystal structure is stabilized by a three-dimensional network of N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The absolute configuration was assigned on the basis of the starting materials.

Project description:In the title hydrated salt, CH(6)N(3) (+)·C(4)H(5)O(6) (-)·H(2)O, the deprotonated carboxyl group is disordered over two positions with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.945?(3):0.055?(3). The bond lengths in the guanidinium cation are inter-mediate between normal C-N and C=N bond lengths, indicating significant delocalization in this species. In the crystal structure, anions and water mol-ecules are linked into sheets parallel to the ab plane by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The linking of the anions and water mol-ecules with the cations by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds creates a three-dimensional network.

In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked via a number of O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, and a C-H?O hydrogen bond, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The title compounds, C9H12O6 and C10H14O6, were formed by careful hydrolysis of the corresponding diethyl esters. Their single crystals were grown from an ethyl acetate/hexane mixture. Crystals of both compounds have monoclinic (P21) symmetry with a single mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. Both crystal structures are very similar and display four -CO-OH?O=C(OH)- hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional double-layered framework.

Project description:The Na(+) cation in the title compound, [Na(C(3)H(7)O(3))](n) or Na[H(2)gl], is coordinated by five O atoms leading to a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The negatively charged O atom of the glycerolate anion is in an equatorial position, and the O atom of the hydroxo group, attached to the secondary C atom, occupies an axial position completing a five-membered non-planar chelate ring; this defines the asymmetric unit. The Na(+) cation is coordinated by three other symmetry-related monodentate H(2)gl(-) ligands, so that each H(2)gl(-) ligand is bonded to four Na(+) ions. The H(2)gl(-) ligands are connected via strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds and these, together with the Na?O inter-connections, are responsible for the formation of polymeric sheets which propagate in the directions of the b and c axes.

Project description:The title compound, C(8)H(20)N(+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, has been prepared by a simple one-pot synthesis route followed by anion exchange using resin. In the crystal structure, the cations are packed in such a way that channels exist parallel to the b axis. These channels are filled by the anions and water mol-ecules, which inter-act via O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds [O⋯Cl = 3.285 (3) and 3.239 (3) Å] to form helical chains. The cations are involved in weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The title compound is not isomorphous with the bromo or iodo analogues.
