Crystal structure of 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridin-1-ium (2R,3R)-3-carb-oxy-2,3-di-hydroxy-propano-ate monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title mol-ecular salt, C6H9N2 (+)·C4H5O6 (-)·H2O, crystallized with two 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridin-1-ium cations, two l-(+)-tartaric acid monoanions [systematic name: (2R,3R)-3-carb-oxy-2,3-di-hydroxy-propano-ate] and two water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked via a number of O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, and a C-H?O hydrogen bond, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The chiral title compound, C(4)H(10)NO(+)·C(4)H(5)O(6) (-)·H(2)O, is a hydrated mol-ecular salt in which the tartaric acid has transferred one proton to the (S)-2-amino-propan-1-ol mol-ecule. The crystal structure is stabilized by a three-dimensional network of N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The absolute configuration was assigned on the basis of the starting materials.

Project description:The title compounds, C9H12O6 and C10H14O6, were formed by careful hydrolysis of the corresponding diethyl esters. Their single crystals were grown from an ethyl acetate/hexane mixture. Crystals of both compounds have monoclinic (P21) symmetry with a single mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. Both crystal structures are very similar and display four -CO-OH?O=C(OH)- hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional double-layered framework.

4-Carb-oxy-pyridin-1-ium 2,4,5-tri-carb-oxy-benzoate monohydrate.

Project description:The title hydrated salt, C6H6NO2 (+)·C10H5O8 (-)·H2O, was isolated from the 1:1 cocrystallization of benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid and isonicotinic acid in ethanol solution. In the crystal, the cation is close to planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.085 Å for the nine fitted atoms; the C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angle = -8.7 (4)°], but twists are evident in the anion, with all but the carb-oxy-lic acid group diagonally opposite the carboxyl-ate group being significantly twisted out of the plane of the benzene ring [C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angles = -118.1 (2), -157.6 (2), 4.3 (3) and 77.3 (3)°]. In the crystal, the ions and water mol-ecules are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding along with C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C10H11N2 (+)·C4H5O4 (-), consists of two independent 5-amino-6-methyl-quinolin-1-ium cations and two 3-carb-oxy-propano-ate anions. Both cations are protonated at the pyridine N atoms and are essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.026 (3) and 0.016 (2) Å. In the crystal, the cations and anions are linked via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a layer parallel to the ab plane. In the layer, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.7283 (15) and 3.8467 (15) Å, are observed. The crystal structure also features weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the layers.

Project description:In the title organic salt, C(5)H(7)N(2) (+)·C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), the carb-oxy-lic group is nearly coplanar with the benzene ring [dihedral angle 1.9 (4)°] whereas the carboxyl-ate group is twisted relative to the benzene ring by 13.6 (4)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the components into a three-dimensional framework consisting of stacks of alternating pairs of anions and cations exhibiting π-π stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.676 (2)-3.711 (1) Å. The π-π stacks extend along [110] and [-110].

Project description:Caesium propano-ate monohydrate, Cs+·C3H5O2 -·H2O, is composed of two symmetry-independent Cs+ cations, which are situated on the special position 4e of space group P 21 m, one symmetry-independent propano-ate mol-ecule in a general position and a pair of water mol-ecules also situated on special position 4e. Two pairs of these symmetry-independent cations, four propano-ate mol-ecules and two pairs of symmetry-independent water mol-ecules form a repeat unit. These units form columns that are directed along the c axis and possess symmetry mm2. There are four such columns passing through each unit cell. Each column is inter-connected to its neighbours by four bifurcated three-centred Ow-H⋯Op (w = water, p = propano-ate) hydrogen bonds of moderate strength. There are also four intra-molecular Ow-H⋯Op hydrogen bonds of moderate strength within each column. One Cs+ cation is coordinated by six oxygen atoms (two water and four carboxyl-ate) in a trigonal-prismatic geometry, while the other Cs+ cation is coordinated by four water and four carboxyl-ate O atoms in a tetra-gonal-prismatic arrangement.
