ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Cu(2)(C(22)H(20)Br(2)N(4)O(2))(ClO(4))(2)], was prepared by the condensation of 2,6-diformyl-4-bromo-phenol with 1,3-diamino-propane in the presence of copper(II) ions. The macrocyclic ligand shows an approximately planar structure except for the two propene groups in the macrocycle. The coordination polyhedron of each Cu atom can be described as distorted square pyramidal. The two Cu atoms are bridged by two phenolate O atoms of the macrocycle, with a Cu?Cu distance of 3.109?(2)?Å.

The benzene rings are almost perpendicular to one another, making a dihedral angle of 89.14?(6)°. There are bifurcated intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds in the mol-ecular structure. Project description:The dinuclear title complex, [Cu(2)(C(46)H(38)N(4)O(2))Cl(2)]·0.5C(2)H(5)OH·2H(2)O, is located on crystallographic inversion centres with two half-mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The two Cu(II) atoms are coordinated by a hexa-dentate dianionic ligand formed in situ from the condensation of two tridentate ligands by four imine N atoms and two bridging phenolate O atoms along with two Cl atoms at axial positions. The coordination geometry around the metal atoms is distorted square-pyramidal (? = 0.185 and 0.199). The non-bonding Cu?Cu distances are 2.9556?(12) and 2.9506?(12)?Å in the two dimers. The packing is stabilized through solvent-mediated inter-molecular O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The diamine chain of one of the dimers is disordered over two positions in a 0.680?(5):0.320?(5) ratio.

Project description:The crystal structures of two substituted HATN (hexa-aza-tri-naphthyl-ene) derivatives, namely 2,3,8,9,14,15-hexa-methyl- and 2,3,8,9,14,15-hexa-phenyl-5,6,11,12,17,18- hexa-zatri-naphthyl-ene (HATNMe6 and HATNPh6), are reported. Whereas the structure of the methyl-substituted derivative (HATNMe6) contains no solvent mol-ecules (C30H24N6), the hexa-phenyl-substituted structure (HATNPh6) contains two mol-ecules of di-chloro-methane (C60H36N6·2CH2Cl2). This class of planar bridging ligands is known for its electron-deficient systems and its ability to form ?-? stacking inter-actions. Indeed, in both crystal structures strong ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed, but with different packing features. The di-chloro-methane mol-ecules in the crystal structure of HATNPh6 are situated in the voids and are involved in C-H?N contacts to the nitro-gen atoms of the pyrazine units.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(4)(C(28)H(18)N(4)O(2))(2)(CH(3)O)(2)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO, is a C2 symmetric tetra-nuclear zinc(II) complex comprised of two [Zn(2)L](2+) units bridged by a pair of ?(2)-OMe ligands (where L is the doubly-deprotonated form of the macrocyclic dinucleating ligand derived from the [2 + 2] Schiff base condensation between 2-hy-droxy-benzene-1,3-dicarbaldehyde and 1,2-diamino-benzene). Each Zn(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry and the Zn(4)(?-OMe)(2) unit lies in the cleft formed by two distinctly bent Schiff base ligands. The observed mol-ecular shape is supported by an intra-molecular ?-? inter-action between one of the phenolate rings on each of the two ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.491?(5)?Å]. The methyl groups of the solvent molecule are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.6:0.4 ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, C(32)H(28), the central cyclo-octa-tetra-ene ring has a boat conformation, and the mol-ecule is saddle shaped. The seat is defined by the mean plane of the four-atom attachment points (r.m.s. deviation = 0.014?Å) of the two bicyclo-heptenyl substituents. These substituents comprise the pommel and cantle, with each mean plane defined by four atoms proximate to the seat (r.m.s. deviations = 0.002 and 0.004?Å). Relative to the seat, the pommel and cantle bend up 31.16?(4) and 29.40?(5)°, while the benzo units (flaps, r.m.s. deviations = 0.006 and 0.009?Å) bend down 36.75?(4) and 38.46?(4)°. The mean planes of the dimethyl-ethyl-idene units are almost perpendicular to the saddle seat, making dihedral angles 86.89?(4) and 88.01?(4)°.
