ABSTRACT: In the title layer complex, {[Ni(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O}(n), the Ni atom has a distorted octa-hedral environment, defined by the phthalate and 4,4'-bipyridyl ligands which link the Ni atoms, forming a square lattice in the bc plane. This extends into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network through O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The Ni atom lies on, and both ligands are bis-ected by, a crystallographic twofold axis.

O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonding inter-actions and ?-? stacking inter-actions in the structure are responsible for the supra-molecular assembly.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title helical coordination polymer, {[Ni(C(7)H(4)O(6)S)(C(10)H(8)N(2)S)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O}(n), is comprised of an Ni(II) ion, one 5-sulfosalicylic acid dianion (HSSA), two 4,4'-dipyridylsulfide (4,4'-dps) ligands, and two coordinated and two uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The Ni(II) ion is coordinated by two water mol-ecules, one carboxyl-ate O atom of the HSSA dianion and three N atoms from three 4,4'-dps ligands in a distorted octa-hedral environment. Half of the 4,4'-dps ligands are ?(2)-bridging ligands which link adjacent Ni(II) centers, forming a one-dimensional helical structure along the b axis. This helical structure is further stabilized by O-H?O intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the two carboxyl-ate groups of the 4-nitro-phthalate dianion ligands have monodentate and 1,3-bridging bonding modes, respectively. The Cu atom shows an approximate square-pyramidal coordination as it is bonded to O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of three 4-nitro-phthalate ligands and two O atoms of the non-equivalent coordinated water mol-ecules. Other Cu atoms in the coordination polymer are connected into a two-dimensional layer in the ab plane. The layers are aggregated to a three-dimensional structure through inter-layer hydrogen bonding involving an O atom of a nitro group. The whole three-dimensional structure is further maintained and stabilized by intra-layer hydrogen bonds between the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups and the coordinated water mol-ecules.

The chains are separated by 4,4'-bipyridine and water solvent mol-ecules. Within a chain, the Mn(II) atom is six-coordinated by two N atoms of the bridging 4,4'-bipyridine ligands, three water O atoms and one carboxyl-ate O atom of a single deprotonated 3-(4-carb-oxy-phen-oxy)phthalic acid ligand. Both coordinating and solvent 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules are situated on centres of inversion. An intricate network of O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the carb-oxy group, the coordinating water mol-ecules and the two types of solvent mol-ecules leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the polymeric complex of the title compound, {[AgNi(C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]NO(3)·2H(2)O}(n), the Ag(I) ion displays an angular coordination geometry with two N atoms from pyrazine-2-carboxyl-ate ligands, and the Ni(II) ion is hexa-coordinated by two O atoms from two water mol-ecules, two O and two N atoms from pyrazine-2-carboxyl-ate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the Ag(I) and Ni(II) ions lie on a mirror plane and an inversion centre, respectively. The complex chains, the nitrate ions and the uncoordinated water mol-ecules are linked together through O-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak Ag?O inter-actions [2.619?(17)-2.749?(17)?Å] into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, [Ni(C(10)H(8)O(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n), was obtained by the hydro-thermal reaction of nickel(II) sulfate, benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetic acid (p-phenyl-enedioxy-diacetic acid) and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy) in alkaline aqueous solution. Each Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two O atoms from two benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetate ligands, two N atoms from two 4,4'-bpy ligands and two water mol-ecules, and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Ni(II) atom and benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetate and 4,4'-bpy moieties lie on inversion centres. The benzene-1,4-dioxy-diacetate ligands bridge the Ni(II) atoms to form infinite zigzag chains, which are further inter-connected by 4,4'-bpy ligands to form a grid-like layer parallel to the (01) plane. Moreover, there are O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions within the grid-like layer between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the carboxyl-ate O atoms.

Project description:The solvothermal reaction of magnesium nitrate with bi-phenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid in N,N-dimethyl-formamide and water leads to the formation of crystals of the title complex, [Mg(C(14)H(8)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n). The Cl(-) counterions lie in the inter-stices. The Ni(II) complexes are linked into polymeric sheets parallel to the bc plane. These sheets are then further connected into a three-dimensional network by O-H?O, O-H?Cl and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, together with weak C-H?O inter-actions.
