Poly[tetra-aqua-?(3)-pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ato-strontium(II)].

ABSTRACT: The reaction of strontium(II) nitrate with the proton-transfer compound (pdaH(2))(py-3,5-dc)·H(2)O (where pda = propane-1,3-diamine and py-3,5-dcH(2) = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid) leads to the formation of the title polymeric compound, [Sr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(4)](n). The propane-1,3-diaminium cation is not incorporated in this crystal structure. The Sr(II) atom lies on an inversion centre and is eight-coordinated by four O atoms from three py-3,5-dc ligands and four O atoms from four coordinated water mol-ecules. The coordination polyhedron of the Sr(II) atom is a distorted dodeca-hedron. These binuclear units are connected via the carboxyl-ate O atoms to build a one-dimensional polymeric chain. In the crystal structure, non-covalant inter-actions consisting of hydrogen bonds (X-H?O, with X = O and C) and ?-? stacking inter-actions [3.4604?(19)?Å] connect the various components to form a supra-molecular structure.

One Fe(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment, with two chelating rings from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two O atoms from the water mol-ecules, while the other is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with two O atoms from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and four O atoms from the water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title polymeric complex, [Sr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Sr(II) atom is eight-coordinated by four O atoms and one N atom of four pyridine-2,4-dicarboxyl-ate (py-2,4-dc) ligands and three O atoms of three coordinated water mol-ecules in a dodeca-hedral geometry. These units are connected via the carboxyl-ate O atoms and water mol-ecules, building polymeric layers parallel to (100). In the crystal structure, non-covalent inter-actions consisting of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.862 (17) and 3.749 (17) Å] connect the various components, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:There are two independent La(III) cations in the polymeric title compound, {[La(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n). One is nine-coordinated in an LaN(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules, while the other is ten-coordinated in an LaNO(9) bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules. The two La(III) cations are separated by a non-bonding distance of 5.026 (3) Å. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions bridge the La(III) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.700 (5) Å.

The bridging mode of the anions leads to the formation of a layered network parallel to (100). The Ba(II) atom is nine-coordinated by six carboxyl-ate O atoms from the (py-3,5-dc)(2-) ligands, and three O atoms from the coordinated water mol-ecules. The coordination polyhedron around the Ba(II) atom is best described as tricapped trigonal-prismatic. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular inter-actions, such as X-H⋯O hydrogen bonds (X = O and C) and π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distances between pyridine rings of 3.6191 (13) and 3.6192 (13) Å] play an important role in stabilizing the supramolecular structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(3)NO(4))·3H(2)O}(n), consists of Co(II) polymeric complex cations, uncoordinated pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions and lattice water mol-ecules. The Co(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The 4,4'-bipyridine ligands bridge Co cations, forming a polymeric chain running along the b axis. The two pyridine rings of the 4,4'-biyridine are twisted to each other by a dihedral angle of 8.95 (9)°. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding network is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. In the crystal structure, the Cu(II) cation is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms and one N atom from three pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate (PDA) anions and two water mol-ecules with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The tridentate PDA anion is also located on the twofold rotation axis and bridges the Cu(II) cations to form a two-dimensional polymeric layer. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between layers links the two-dimensional layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.
