Poly[diaqua-(?(5)-pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ato)strontium].

ABSTRACT: In the structure of the title compound, [Sr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Sr(II) cation is eight-coordinated in form of a distorted dodeca-hedron by two water O atoms and by five O atoms and one N atom from five pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions. The bridging mode of the anions leads to the formation of a layered network parallel to (100). O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the coordinating water mol-ecules and the carboxyl-ate groups of adjacent layers consolidates the crystal packing. Weak C-H?O inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:The reaction of strontium(II) nitrate with the proton-transfer compound (pdaH(2))(py-3,5-dc)·H(2)O (where pda = propane-1,3-diamine and py-3,5-dcH(2) = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid) leads to the formation of the title polymeric compound, [Sr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(4)](n). The propane-1,3-diaminium cation is not incorporated in this crystal structure. The Sr(II) atom lies on an inversion centre and is eight-coordinated by four O atoms from three py-3,5-dc ligands and four O atoms from four coordinated water mol-ecules. The coordination polyhedron of the Sr(II) atom is a distorted dodeca-hedron. These binuclear units are connected via the carboxyl-ate O atoms to build a one-dimensional polymeric chain. In the crystal structure, non-covalant inter-actions consisting of hydrogen bonds (X-H?O, with X = O and C) and ?-? stacking inter-actions [3.4604?(19)?Å] connect the various components to form a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. In the crystal structure, the Cu(II) cation is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms and one N atom from three pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate (PDA) anions and two water mol-ecules with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The tridentate PDA anion is also located on the twofold rotation axis and bridges the Cu(II) cations to form a two-dimensional polymeric layer. O-H?O hydrogen bonding between layers links the two-dimensional layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ce(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(3)](n), contains two Ce(III) cations, three pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate (pyd) anions and three coordinated water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:Each of the carboxyl-ate -CO(2) fragments of the dianion ligand in the title compound, {[Sr(C(9)H(4)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O}(n), chelates to a Sr(II) atom and at the same time, one of the two O atoms coordinates to a third Sr(II) atom. The ?(4)-bridging mode of the dianion generates a square-grid layer motif; adjacent layers are connected by O-H?O, O-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The eight-coordinate Sr atom exists in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with a minor twin component of 24%.
