Poly[aqua-[?-N'-(carboxymethyl)ethylene-diamine--N,N,N'-triacetato]neodymium(III)].

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Nd(C(10)H(13)N(2)O(8))(H(2)O)](n), each Nd(III) ion is coordinated by six O atoms and two N atoms from one N'-(carboxymethyl)ethylene-diamine--N,N,N'-triacetate (edta) ligand and one water mol-ecule, displaying a bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The edta ligands link the neodymium metal centres, forming polymeric chains running along the a axis of the unit cell. These chains are further assembled via inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

The Nd(III) ion is coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from three bridging 5-aza-nium-yl-isophthalate (Haip) ligands, four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two oxalate (ox) anions and one ligated water mol-ecule in a tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The Haip anion acts as a ?(3)-bridge, connecting three Nd(III) ions through two carboxyl-ate groups; the ox anion adopts a bis-bidentate-bridging mode, linking two Nd(III) ions. The layer framework is further extended to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure through N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The Cu(C(3)H(10)N(2))(H(2)O) units are linked via fumarate dianions into a zigzag chain running along the a axis. A longer Cu-O distance [2.873?(3)?Å] is to a water mol-ecule bridging equivalent Cu(II) atoms in adjacent chains, forming a three-dimensional framework. One of the Cu(II) atoms is in a distorted square-pyramidal environment and the other is in a pseudo-octa-hedral geometry of the [5+1] type. O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Nd(NO(3))(3)(C(18)H(12)N(6))(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O, the Nd(3+) ion is in a distorted bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by three N atoms from the 2,4,6-tris-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,5-triazine (TPTZ) ligand, six O atoms from the three nitrate anions and one O atom from the aqua ligand. The mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds. Two types of ?-? stacking inter-actions occur between the TPTZ ligands of adjacent complexes [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.760?(4) and 3.870?(3)?Å].
