Bis{[(?)-cyclopentadienyl]tris(diethyl phosphito-?P,P',P'')cobaltate(III)-?O,O',O'']oxovanadium(IV)}-?-oxalate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound {systematic name: bis[1,4(?(5))-cyclo-penta-dien-yl]hexa-kis(?-diethyl phosphito)-1:2?(6)P:O;3:4?(6)O:P-?-ox-alato-2:3?(4)O(1),O(2):O(1'),O(2')-dioxido-2?O,3?O-1,4-dicobalt(III)-2,3-divanadium(IV)}, [Co(2)V(2)(C(5)H(5))(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(4)H(10)O(3)P)(6)O(2)], is an oxalate-bridged dinuclear complex of oxovanadium(IV). The geometric center of the dimer lies on an inversion center. The unique Co atom is bonded to three P atoms and a cyclo-penta-dienyl ring. The unique V atom has six O atom neighbors in an approximately octa-hedral arrangement; the V-O bond trans to the V=O bond is significantly lengthened.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(III)(NH₃)₆]₃[Co(II)(C₂O₄)₃]₂Cl·12H₂O, was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit comprises two [Co(NH₃)₆]³⁺ cations, one located on a threefold axis and the other on a site of symmetry -3, a [Co(C₂O₄)₃]⁴⁺ anion, located on a threefold axis, one sixth of a chloride anion [disordered over two sites, one threefold (site occupancy = 0.5) and the other -3 (site occupancy (0.25)] and two water molecules. Both Co(III) centers are six-coordinated by NH₃ mol-ecules, forming [Co(NH₃)₆]³⁺ octa-hedra, with Co-N distances in the range 1.958 (2)-1.977 (3) Å. The title structure gives the first example of the [Co(C₂O₄)₃]⁴⁻ anion, with the distorted octa-hedral environment of Co(II) center formed by six O atoms from three oxalate residues. The Co-O bond lengths are 2.0817 (18) to 2.0979 (18) Å. Multiple N-H⋯O, N-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the cations, anions and water mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zr(C(16)H(13)P)Cl(2)], the geometry at the metal atom is distorted tetrahedral; the Cl-Zr-Cl angle is 101.490 (16) degrees and the cyclopentadienyl (Cp) centroids subtend an angle of 122.63 (3) degrees at the Zr atom. The P atom lies 0.474 (3) and 0.496 (3) A out of the planes of the Cp rings. The C-P-C angle of 91.42 (7) degrees reflects the pincer effect of the two Cp rings. Three C-H...Cl, one C-H...P, one C-H...pi and one Cl...P interaction link the molecules to form thick layers parallel to the bc plane.

In the anion, the In(III) atom is coordinated by six Cl atoms resulting in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. Both metal atoms are located on special positions of site symmetry 2/m. Furthermore, one Cl atom and one N atom are located on a mirror plane. N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between cations and anions consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zr(C(12)H(18)N)(2)(C(4)H(10)N)(2)(C(4)H(11)N)] or [Zr(HNC(6)H(3) (i)Pr(2))(2)(NEt(2))(2)(HNEt(2))], which was obtained by the reaction of Zr(NEt)(4) with (i)Pr(2)C(6)H(3)NH(2), the Zr(IV) atom is in a trigonal-bipiramidal geometry in which the N atoms from two (i)Pr(2)C(6)H(3)NH and one NEt(2) ligand occupy the equatorial positions, and the N atoms of an NEt(2) and an Et(2)NH ligand occupy the apical positions. An intra-molecular N-H⋯N contact occurs. There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit.

Understanding the Potential In Vitro Modes of Action of Bis(β-diketonato) Oxovanadium(IV) Complexes.

Project description:To understand the potential in vitro modes of action of bis(β-diketonato) oxovanadium(IV) complexes, nine compounds of varying functionality have been screened using a range of biological techniques. The antiproliferative activity against a range of cancerous and normal cell lines has been determined, and show these complexes are particularly sensitive against the lung carcinoma cell line, A549. Annexin V (apoptosis) and Caspase-3/7 assays were studied to confirm these complexes induce programmed cell death. While gel electrophoresis was used to determine DNA cleavage activity and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), the Comet assay was used to determine induced genomic DNA damage. Additionally, Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based DNA melting and fluorescent intercalation displacement assays have been used to determine the interaction of the complexes with double strand (DS) DNA and to establish preferential DNA base-pair binding (AT versus GC).

Project description:The title compound, (C(4)H(12)N(2))(3)[Nd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O or (pipzH(2))(3)[Nd(pydc)(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O (in which pipz is piperazine and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by the reaction of NdCl(3)·6H(2)O with the proton-transfer compound (pipzH(2))(pydc) in aqueous solution. The nine donor atoms of the three pydc(2-) ligands form a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic arrangement around the Nd(III) center. Considerable C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions between CO groups of carboxyl-ate fragments and aromatic rings of pydc(2-) with distances of 3.135 (5)-3.255 (5) Å are observed. In the crystal structure, a wide range of hydrogen-bonding [of the types O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O, with D⋯A distances ranging from 2.608 (10) to 3.278 (7) Å], ion-pairing and C-O⋯π stacking interactions connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure. There is a high degree of solvent disorder in the structure; the occupancies of five water molecules refined to 0.6, 0.5, 0.4, 0.25 and 0.25.

Project description:In the title compound, K[Co(CO(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·2H(2)O, the Co(III) atom is coordinated by two bipyridine N atoms and four O atoms from two bidentate chelating carbonate anions, and thus adopts a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment. The [Co(bipy)(CO(3))(2)](-) (bipy is 2,2'-bipyridine) -units are stacked along [100] via π-π stacking inter-actions, with inter-planar distances between the bipyridine rings of 3.36 (4) and 3.44 (6) Å, forming chains. Classical O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the chains, forming channels along (100) in which the K(+) ions reside and leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Two uncoordinated water mol-ecules are present in asymmetric unit. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the different entities stabilize the crystal structure.
