ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Tm(4)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(6)(H(2)O)(2)](n), has been synthesized hydro-thermally. The asymmetric unit has four unique Tm(III) ions that are six-, seven-, eight- and nine-coordinate. The cations are inter-connected by bridging benzene-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate (BDC) anions to form an infinite two-dimensional framework, in which the BDC ligands adopt three different coordination modes. Adjacent sheets are further packed to form a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework through O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along [100]. These chains are further linked by weak ?-? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range of 3.609?(2)-3.758?(1)?Å, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title polymer, [Cd(C(8)H(10)O(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Cd(II) cation is coordinated by five carboxyl-ate O atoms from three different cyclo-hexane-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two O atoms from two water mol-ecules, displaying a distorted CdO(7) pentagonal-bipyramidal geometry. Each anion acts as a ?(3)-bridge, linking symmetry-related Cd(II) ions into a layer parallel to (010). In the crystal, numerous O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds occur. The coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms act as donors or acceptors in the formation of these hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, [Y(2)(C(8)H(5)NO(4))(3)(C(3)H(7)NO)(4)](n), contains one Y(3+) ion, three half-mol-ecules of the 2-amino-benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (abz) dianion and two O-bonded N,N-dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules. Each abz half-mol-ecule is completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry and its -NH(2) group is disordered in each case [relative occupancies within the asymmetric unit = 0.462?(18):0.538?(18), 0.93?(2):0.07?(2) and 0.828?(16):0.172?(16)]. The combination of disorder and crystal symmetry means that each of the four C-H atoms of the benzene ring of each of the dianions bears a statistical fraction of an -NH(2) group. The coordination geometry of the yttrium ion is a fairly regular YO(8) square anti-prism arising from its coordination by two DMF mol-ecules, four monodentate abz dianions and one O,O-bidentate abz dianion. The polymeric building unit is a dimeric paddle-wheel with two metal ions linked by four bridging abz dianions. Further bridging linkages connect the dimers into a three-dimensional framework containing voids in which highly disordered DMF mol-ecules are presumed to reside.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Fe(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)]·4H(2)O}(n), there are two types of coordination for the Fe(II) atoms. One Fe(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment, with two chelating rings from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two O atoms from the water mol-ecules, while the other is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with two O atoms from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and four O atoms from the water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound [Li(4)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(2)H(5)OH)(H(2)O)](n), there are four crystallographically independent metal centers each of which is coordinated by four O atoms. The benzene-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate groups act as bidentate-bridging ligands producing a two-dimensional coordination network parallel to the ab plane. The coordination polymer is further stabilized by coordination of water and ethanol mol-ecules by the Li(+) ions. Simultaneously, the water and ethanol mol-ecules are involved in O-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, {[CaZn(C(10)H(2)O(8))(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O}(n), the Zn(II) ion is coordinated by four O atoms from four benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The Ca(II) ion is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from four benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anions and by two water mol-ecules in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. The Ca(II) and Zn(II) ions and the lattice water mol-ecule are located on twofold rotation axes; the centroid of the benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion is located on a centre of inversion. The ?(8)-bridging mode of the anion results in the formation of a three-dimensional structure with channels extending along [100] in which lattice water mol-ecules are situated. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinating and lattice water mol-ecules as donors and the carboxyl-ate O atoms and lattice water mol-ecules as acceptors are present in the structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, {[La(2)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)]·0.5H(2)O}(n), contains two independent La(III) atoms, one of which is surrounded by eight carboxyl-ate-O atoms from six benzene-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate (BDC) anions in a bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The other La(III) atom is nine-coordinated in a tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, formed by eight carboxyl-ate-O atoms from six BDC anions and a coordinated water mol-ecule. The BDC anions bridge the La(III) atoms, forming a two-dimensional polymeric complex parallel to (001). The crystal structure contains weak O-H?O and non-classical C-H?O hydrogen bonds. A C-H?? inter-action is also present in the crystal structure. The uncoordinated water molecule shows half-occupation.

The other Co(II) ion is bonded to four O atoms and two N atoms from four imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands. These metal coordination units are connected by bridging imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, generating a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure is further stabilized by N-H?O, O-H?O, and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the water mol-ecules and the imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(2)(C(10)H(7)NO(6))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)](n), the repeat unit is a centrosymmetic tetra-carboxyl-ato-O,O'-bridged dimer in which each Zn(II) atom is five-coordinated by four O atoms from different dianionic 4,6-dimethyl-5-nitro-iso-phthalate ligands [Zn-O = 2.0283?(18)-2.0540?(19)?Å] and one N atom from a pyridine mol-ecule [Zn-N = 2.030?(2)?Å] in the axial site of a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination sphere. The Zn?Zn separation is 2.9750?(6)?Å. The complex dimers are extended into a two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to (100) through bridges provided by the second carboxyl-ate group of the ligand.
