ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(C(4)H(4)O(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Zn(II) ion (site symmetry ) is coordinated in an octahedral geometry by two pyridine mol-ecules, two water mol-ecules and two bridging centrosymmetric O-monodentate succinate dianions to create one-dimensional polymeric chains. The chains are cross-linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming sheets.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(4)H(4)O(4))(C(9)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Co(II) cation, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two succinate anions, two isoquinoline ligands and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The succinate anion, located across another inversion center, bridges the Co cations, forming polymeric chains running along the b axis. The partially overlapped arrangement of parallel isoquinoline ring systems of adjacent polymeric chains and the shorter face-to-face distance of 3.402 (6) Å indicates the existence of weak π-π stacking in the crystal structure. Classical intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and weak non-classical inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Each Cu(II) cation is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms belonging to two fumarate anions, two N atoms from two pyridine mol-ecules and one water mol-ecule, in a square-based pyramidal geometry. Each fumarate anion bridges two Cu(II) cations through the two carboxyl-ate groups in a bis-monodentate fashion to form a one-dimensional polymeric chain along the c axis. Neighbouring chains are linked together to form a two-dimensional network parallel to the ac plane via hydrogen bonding inter-actions between uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms and coordinated water mol-ecules of adjecent chains.

The Fe atom lies on a crystallographic centre of symmetry and a twofold rotation axis passes through the pyrazine ring.
